The Unwanted Bride

Married life

Tobirama was getting ready to leave.Kanoko was in the kitchen.

It had been a few months since he had married Kanoko Uchiha.He hadn't taken any time off to enjoy his 'newlywed' life.He still remembered the look on Hiruzen's face when he walked inside the office at his usual time the day after the marriage.It had been priceless.....

His life had not changed by much.Kanoko cooked and did housework,aided by mito and her daughter,and she always saw him off in the mornings and greeted him at night when he came back home.She  even prepared lunches for him.

She was being a perfect wife,but he still kept his distance.He had never been particularly fond of the Uchiha clan,even less so after the conflict between Madara and his elder brother.He avoided any kind of physical contact with her as much as possible.Even at night,he didn't lay a finger on her.They just shared the same bed.Though his aversion to touching her was  because of the fact that she was an Uchiha more than the fact that she was young.

Kanoko appeared with a lunchbox,her cheeks slightly pink.

'Here's your lunchbox,Tobirama-san.Have a good day!'

He nodded,taking the lunchbox and left.

Kanoko sighed.

It had been about four months since she and the 2nd hokage,Tobirama, had gotten married.So far,her married life had been....lonely.Quite different from what she had heard from her former teacher,Nina-sensei.Nina hyuga had married a man from her clan and had a beautiful baby boy.Kanoko considered the older woman as her best friend.

She remembered the last time she had went to her house.It was a few days before the marriage.

She was playing with Nina's son when Nina commented,'So,you'll soon be Lady Kanoko,hmm?'

Kanoko's cheeks turned pink.

Nina pointed at her son and laughed.'You're really good with children.But babies aren't born out of thin air!Now that you're getting married,you'll see what I mean.'

At this,Kanoko could feel her cheeks burning in embarassment.Of course she had an idea,she wasn't a child anymore.....

When she was about to leave,Nina had wrapped her  arms around kanoko in a warm hug.

'Congratulations again.....and don't forget me.You can always tell me everything....'

At this,she couldn't stop the tears from falling.She hadn't received this much sincere affection in a long time....

At the beginning,Kanoko had been an only child.As the clan leader's daughter,she was to be the successor.She would have been the first female clan head in any clan,obviously the Uchiha as well.So she had been treated like a princess..But a few years later,her  younger brother had been born,so he had become the successor,leaving her unnecessary.Not that she was jealous of Kaname,but it saddened her that she was so worthless to her family,despite always trying her best.The only times she was treated like a princess again was when her marriage had been fixed.

She had hoped that it would be different now.Her wish had come true,but only partially.Her in-laws were kind to her,but her husband was entirely another matter.Though she could tell he wasn't an unkind person.

She had no idea that the wheels of fate had already started to turn,and she would finally be granted the happiness that she had always wanted.
