I didn't feel any pain.

I didn't feel anything as I toppled to the ground.

I barely remember the door slamming open and someone pulling me into their arms. "M-mom?" I mumbled as every sound in the room muffled almost as if I was underwater.

Was I dying?

I looked at the person that was holding me, pressing their hands down on my chest as they looked around frantically.

"C-c..." I started but felt the metallic taste of blood in my mouth causing me to gag and choke. Whoever was holding me noticed, and held me on my side as multiple people rushed into the room.

I could feel myself losing consciousness as people swarmed around me, tending to the wound that I couldn't feel.

"Keep your eyes open, Violet!" I heard a female yell but her voice was so distant it felt like she was down the hall and not in the room with me.

"Is there an exit wound?" A male asked as black spots riddled my vision. "No exit wound. We have to go to surgery." A female said as the pain that was numbed by shock started to fill my body.

"I'm dying." I mumbled as I looked up at the person holding me. "No, you're not." They said as they combed their fingers through my hair.

"I'm dying." I repeated as I started to lose consciousness again. "Keep your eyes open,Vi!" Someone yelled as I was lifted onto a bed. "Sleepy." I whispered as I closed my eyes.

I could feel the room spinning even with my eyes closed.

I was dying.

"Stay with us, Violet! You're gonna be okay!" The voice I recognized as Sophia yelled as they rushed me to an OR.

I opened my mouth to respond but the horrible metallic taste filled my throat again as my eyes rolled back into my head.

"Violet sweetie, it's time for school." Mom said as she shook me awake. I opened my eyes to see I was in my old bedroom.

"Five more minutes." I mumbled as she chuckled and sat next to me, combing her fingers through my hair. "You said that five minutes ago. Dad is making biscuits and gravy." She said as I grinned.

"Alright, ya got me there." I said then got out of the bed. When I walked downstairs, mom and dad were dancing to Frank Sinatra music as the sound of bacon sizzling filled my ears.

"There she is!" Dad yelled as he started dancing with me. "Can I skip school today?" I asked with hope in my voice. "Hmmmm...how are your grades?" He asked as mom smirked at me.

"Straight A's." I said proudly as he grinned at me. "What do you think? Should we let her?" Dad asked mom as she set a plate of food in front of me.

"Don't you have a test on Monday? In Fink's class?" Mom asked as I sighed. "Yeah. I'll study extra hard. I promise." I said and held my pinky up as she looked at dad.

He already had his phone up to his ear with a smirk on his face. "Hi...my name is Nick Richards. I need to call out my daughter, Violet. She woke up this morning with a fever so she won't be in today." He said with a smirk and I smiled widely at him.

The memory then faded away, leaving me in a black void.

"H-hello?" I called out as my voice echoed through the void. I felt fear rise in my chest as I floated around, looking for someone to tell me what was going on.

I heard screaming a crying coming from my right so I decided to go towards it. As I did this, a scene opened up in front of me.

Two cars were mangled together as ambulances and fire trucks lit up the void around me.
