He ran and ran until exhaustion hit him. His tears wouldn’t stop, and his body felt weaker with every step—but he didn’t care. He had to stop Jungkook.
“Jim—”
“W-where is he, hyung?! Y-you must know! Please, tell me!”
Jin cried with him and tried to pull him into a hug, but Jimin wrenched free and looked at his older friend.
“H… he can’t leave me like this, hyung…”
“But… we’re too late, Ji. I’m so sorry. I couldn’t stop him… he’s on that plane now.”
Jimin turned in the direction Jin pointed and saw the plane climbing into the sky. Without thinking, he ran again, but the airport guards blocked his way.
“Sorry, sir, you can’t go there. It’s strictly prohibited—”
“P-please! Just let me through… I need to stop m-my husband!”
The guards didn’t budge. Helpless, he fell to his knees, sobbing as the plane disappeared from sight. What was he going to do now? How could he ever tell their twins that their father had left? And most of all… how could he live without Jungkook?
“Ji…”
“H… he’s gone, hyung! How could he do this to me?! He said he loved me… then why did he leave me?!”
Jin hugged him tightly, trying to calm him, but nothing could soothe the pain that burned in Jimin’s chest. Nothing could erase the knowledge that Jungkook was gone forever—or so it seemed.

Before the flight*
Jungkook pressed a gentle kiss to his baby’s tomb before taking a cab to the airport. His mind was consumed with thoughts of Jimin and their twins, and memories of happier times made his heart ache.
Tears streamed freely as he let himself grieve. Eventually, he arrived at the airport, paid the driver, and wheeled his luggage inside. Every step felt heavy, as if his heart was pulling him back, but he had made up his mind—or so he thought.
“Jungkook?!! Ahh, finally found you!”
“J-Jin hyung… what are you doing here? Didn’t I tell you to stay at the company?”
“Please… don’t go!”
“Hyung… we’ve already talked about this. I’ve made my decision.”
Jin grabbed his hands, tears in his eyes.
“Jimin is here! He’s trying to stop you… I’ll call him—”
“No! N-no, hyung… I can’t… I don’t want to see him breaking down in front of me. Why did you tell him?”
“I can’t just do nothing, Jungkook! Don’t you love your family? Jimin needs you… Please, don’t leave him!”
Jungkook’s chest tightened. He wanted to see Jimin, to feel him, but fear rooted him in place.
“his father… I respect him too much. I don’t want to disappoint him again. He’s just protecting Jimin from the pain I’ll cause… Even I don’t trust myself anymore. I’m afraid I’ll only hurt Jimin again. I’d rather die than make him cry, hyung. This… this is for the better. This is the only way I can protect my baby too.”
“Do you think you’re not hurting him right now, silly?! Don’t be blind, Jungkook! You both love each other! Be a man and fight for him!”
Jin’s words hit him like a shockwave. His guilt and sense of duty had blinded him. He realized he was running away from the love that had always been his anchor. But… was it already too late? The promise he made to his ex-father-in-law weighed heavily on him.
“Jungkook… please, stay for Jimin, hmm? Don’t go.”
Jin’s voice shook with emotion. The feeling overwhelmed Jungkook, yet he kept walking toward the plane as if his body had a mind of its own.
“J-Jungkook…”
“Hmm?”
“Can you promise me one thing?”
“What is it, my love? Tell me…”
Jimin wiped his tears and looked straight into Jungkook’s eyes.
“Don’t let me go again… hm?”
The memory hit Jungkook like a jolt. He froze, his heart caught between duty and love.
“S-Sir, are you okay?” a staff member asked, noticing his hesitation as she guided his luggage.
Jungkook didn’t answer. He let her lead him to his seat while his mind waged war with his heart. His chest ached, his head throbbed. Every instinct told him to leave, yet every heartbeat screamed at him to stay.

Back with Jimin, his sobs had grown louder, drawing stares from bystanders, but he didn’t care.
“J-Jimin… we should go home now, hmm?”
“Why do I have to go through this, hyung?! Why does it hurt so much again? W-why did he leave me? Was it because he doesn’t love me anymore?!”
Tears poured down his face as he clung to Jin.
“He said he’d never make me cry again… but what is all of this? D-did he really give up?”
Jin stayed silent, letting Jimin’s words and sobs fill the space.
“Why did he leave me now, when I need him most?! I depend on him… I can’t live without him!”
“Son…”
Jimin turned to see his father standing nearby—the man who had once been his first love, now the reason his heart was breaking.
He tried to stand, weak and trembling, but fell. His brother rushed to catch him, but he pushed his hands away. Betrayal and anger boiled inside him—he couldn’t forgive the family that had kept Jungkook’s promise a secret.
If he had known sooner, he could’ve convinced Jungkook to run away with him, to escape the people who opposed them… Right? He had counted on his family as his support, and now… he realized he was wrong.
“Jimin… my poor baby…”
“Don’t touch me!” he shouted, glaring at his mother. She froze in surprise but didn’t press further.
He tried to stand again, but dizziness overtook him. In his first step, he collapsed, unconscious.
“P-please… come back, Jungkook…”

Jimin awoke to unfamiliar surroundings. The world around him was bright and white. Glancing down, he realized he was in a hospital bed, dressed in a hospital gown, a line inserted in his hand.
“Ahh, finally awake, Ji… I’ll call your family—”
“N-no. I don’t want to see them.”
Jin sighed, carefully holding his hand.
“They’ve been worried sick, Ji. They’re feeling guilty and afraid you hate them. They’re your family… don’t treat them like strangers, hmm?”
“I don’t know, hyung… I don’t know who to blame for all of this! I just want to be happy—”
“Shh, shh… please calm down, mochi. The doctor said your stress affected your blood pressure. You’ll get sick. Do you want your kids to worry even more?”
Jimin’s tears fell once again, thoughts of their twins flooding him with guilt.
“W-what will happen to me now, hyung? This is too much… My poor babies will have to grow up without their father. I… I’m afraid I can’t be strong enough to continue this life—”
“Hey, don’t say that, Jimin… Please, don’t stress yourself so much. I’m here for you. Your family is here for you. Even your twins will be by your side. Everything will be okay again.”
Jimin wasn’t sure if it would be okay… or if that was just a distant, impossible dream. What would become of his life now?
