Narrator's pov

-

Each day we stray more and more away from our sanity

But how does one keep calm in situations created to send our minds in overdrive? Especially when we're running out of time to control ourselves

Each day we get better and better at controlling our emotions, especially when we're trying to be a better version of ourselves

Unfortunately for our two actresses, their time had run out and their heated moment had to disappear like my father when I was born

"And ACTION" May yelled

Kate's eyes closed tightly, her clenched fists slowly released and the indented marks on her palm from her nails sinking deep into them started to burn. The cold air filled her lungs to refresh her body before they left her lips like an invisible thick smoke from the pull of a cigarette

It was time to fall into a character she needed to play and to forget the fact that the girl standing in front of her had broken her heart

When Kate's eyes opened once again, they stared into those blue orbs. They were so familiar yet so new

"I swear something is wrong with you" Daisy hissed

The summer's breeze brushed through both of their long cotton skirts and and swirled around the fallen leaves at their bare feet that was mushed inside the saturated green grass at the edge of the river the two girls always escaped to

"You say that like its a bad thing" Jess chuckled

"Maybe it is"

Four hectares of thick spring grass, wet under the early morning dew. Ankle-deep, undulating, thick and tangled as a horse's mane. Steel water trough, lined with green algae, filled with a bucket from the faucet every morning that the girls filled for their elders to beat with cotton. Wooden fences weren't around, it was nothing but the open field. Beech trees line the saturated grass to the north, overhanging boughs provide dappled shade for the horses in summer, standing flicking flies away with their tails.

"And why do you say that?" Jess smirked

"Because you're wild and out of control, you're not normal Jess. Do you see any other woman in the village that acts like you do!?"

"When are you going to realize I'm not like everyone else?" Jess questioned

"What's that supposed to mean!?"

"Nothing. Forget it" Jess muttered causing Daisy to frown

The raven hair girl brought a flat stone between her fingers before running it over her thumb, swiping off the little sand left between the wedges

The clear lake between called for the touch, the girl's wrist snapped and the stone was then scattered across the still water, awaking the rhythmatic flow and sprouting water behind its trail

"I can't believe you did that" Daisy shook her head

"You act like you weren't impressed" Jess said in a low voice

"And why should I be impressed of you almost getting yourself killed!?"

"Because I'd sacrifice my life for you. Over and over" Jess said almost inaudibly

"And what does that even mean!? You always say these weird things that make no sense!"

"It'll make sense one day. Time is always an enemy yet we can't live without it" Jess said
