Harry styles

"There's grace in being lost" she says to me making me think deeply in the little time it took me to get up. She had a point. Sometimes it was nice to be alone with your thoughts.

I was hesitant at first because I wasn't one for "wandering" but then I remind myself that between a million yesterday's and a million tomorrow's, there's only one today. And I wouldn't let it pass without finding out more about this bright soul of a girl.

I stand up as she takes her hand in mine before quickly removing it. I must admit I was a bit disheartened as she did so but then I had to remember I haven't even known her a full day.

We walk down the hill as we go through the back of one of the rows. Aaliyah didn't make eye contact, she just slowly spun around with her head facing up in order to take in every inch of the plant. It took me a second to realise that all of the plants face the same way, I thought that was a it weird

"Hey Uhm. How are they all facing the same way?" I ask making her turn around while she still walks backwards, her hands resting delicately on the sides of her dress.

"Sunflowers face the sun." She says while smiling and then turning back around. She looked stunning, even at this early in the morning. The glow of the orange rays made her skin go a beautiful olive colour, her eyes went a honey gold and it was highlighted by her naturally long eyelashes.

"Okay well what if there's no sun." I say while jogging slightly to keep up with her. She slowly stops and looks at me and smiles

"I'm really glad you asked that actually." She says while chuckling and proceeding to walk forward but more slowly as she looks down at the ground while we both scuff our feet.

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah."

"How come."

"Let's take night for example. At night, in the suns absence, the sunflower will turn its face east in preparation for the sun rise the next morning. They do this everyday until they get old." She says while moving her hair to the side and gently brushing her fingertips along the plant.

"Okay and what happens when the plant gets old?"

"They'll still face east. They'll just wait for an insect to spread their pollen and make new sunflowers. I'm glad you asked because I just think it's so cute." She says while smiling and scrunching her nose.

"Come on." She says as she takes her hand in mine

"Where are we going." I ask while chuckling to myself a bit

"On an adventure." She says while smiling and leading us into the sunflowers

At first we have to brush the giant leaves out of our way and move some of the stems to the side. But once we were in the centre it felt as if nothing could harm us. The tall plant that towered over us made us feel safe and protected.

Aaliyah began to walk deeper into the sunflowers with the sun piercing through the stems, always managing to highlight Aaliyah. When she turned around it was as if there was no flaw to her. That's because there wasn't. She was just full of surprises. I didn't come to these fields expecting to follow Aaliyah into a row of sunflowers. She looked like a living angel.

She stopped as she turned around to look at me and it had took me a second to realise how close we were. All we could hear were the sounds of birds chirping in the distance and our patterned breathing. Our noses were millimetres away as she edges closer so her lips gently brush my ear.

"You're it" she whispers in my ear making me confused. As she got back down off her tip toes and took her arms of my forearm she smirked at me and started running.

I was it

Damn.

She was a fast runner, even in a dress in which made her look so elegant. She ran in all different directions wether it was through sunflowers or not.

It got to a point where she turned back to me while running and smirked as she ran really deep into on of the rows where all i was following was the end of her floral dress. It seemed as in life was going in slow motion.

I realised deeply that the present moment is all I will ever have. I needed to be like Aaliyah and make the "now" the primary focus of my life.

I couldn't help but laugh as I heard hers from deep within the tall plants. Her laugh was the best, it was loud and goofy.

She eventually stopped and I know because I heard no other movement but my own, I run up a bit more to see Aaliyah stood there and laughing.

I took my opportunity and ran up to her. I wrapped my arms around her waist and spun her gently round. I heard her laugh again, the sound of laughter was the sound of her soul dancing which is why I loved it so much. The way her hair and dress were moved in unison by the wind as she clung onto my lower arms in support.

I couldn't help but laugh.

"Wait Harry." She says while laughing and still trying to catch her breath from running.

"Yes?" I say as I rest my head to the side so I can meet her eyes

"Can you lift me up?" She says with her hand stretched out wanting to touch the top of the sunflower.

I chuckle to myself as I shift her from my arms to my shoulders

"Do I not hurt you?"

"Nope it's fine." I say because, it really was fine.

Aaliyah Moreno

Once Harry had lifted me up on his shoulders he holds onto my legs so I don't fall. I stretch up where my finger tips are able to brush the top of the sunflower head. Never in my life have I felt the actual flower itself, only the stems and leaves in which grew out of it.

But now, with Harry's help, my finger tips are brushing against the bright yellow leaves attached to the rough core of the flower itself.

As my fingertips gently caress each one while I feel Harry's cold rings against my ankles it reminds me that even the prettiest flower will die one day. It's natures way of teaching us that nothing last forever, so we must ensure we enjoy it.
