"Stop eating the candy," Natasha scolded you. "You've already had too much."

You waited for her to turn her back to you and shoved handfuls of sweets into your pockets. She noticed and snatched the candy bowl out of your hand. "No more."

You managed to grab one more piece before you moved away from her. "Do we really have to dress up? It's not like any kids are coming up to the compound to trick or treat."

"Dressing up is the whole point of a costume party. Now go put on the costume I got for you."

You crossed your arms, "I'll look silly in it."

Natasha rolled her eyes and pushed you towards your room. "Just go put it on."

You stuck your tongue out at her and went towards your room. On your way there you ran into Bucky and Steve and couldn't hold in your laughter. "I don't think you guys understand the concept of a costume."

"I think we look great," Steve told you as he adjusted his collar. He and Bucky were wearing their old WWII formal uniforms. Steve even had his hair combed back in an old-fashioned way. Bucky had cut his hair a little bit and slicked it back, but it was mostly hidden by his hat. He had shaved his stubble making him look like those old photos you've seen of him.

You walked up to Barnes and adjusted his hat, "Looking sharp, Sergeant."

He smiled back, "You think so?"

"Definitely."

"What are you dressing up as?" Steve asked you.

"Ugh, Natasha picked something out for me. I'm not looking forward to it."

"Stay away from Parker then, he's taking pictures."

Once you made it to your room you got into your costume, but before you headed back to the living area you glanced at the floorboards near your bed. A few days ago, the phone you were hiding in there had rung. You didn't answer but what was odd was that no one had called again since. You hoped it stayed like that for at least today.

In the living area, Clint was wearing the same costume he always did, a crappy Robin Hood. Natasha had put a little more effort and dressed up as a pirate.

"What did you make (Y/N) wear this year?" the archer asked his friend.

Natasha smiles, "Turn around."

Clint couldn't help but smile as you walked into the room. "Is that my Prince Charming?"

"Shut up," you told him as you crossed your arms. "I'm not a prince."

Natasha walked up to you and placed a plastic crown on your head. "Now you are."

You were wearing some light black leather armor that made it look you had just walked out of a renaissance fair. You even had a cape around your shoulders and a fake plastic sword strapped to your waist.

"You said I was a knight, not a prince," you complained.

"I lied."

"Looking good (L/N)," Tony said walking past. "Are you going to save a princess and fight a dragon after this?"

"What are you supposed to be?" you asked the billionaire

"Isn't it obvious?" He turned around so you could get a 360 view of his costume, but you merely shrugged. "Come on, haven't you seen Dracula?"

Again, you shrugged, "I guess I haven't."

"Unbelievable, none of you have taste."

"It looks like a child made it," Wanda insulted him as she joined in with her brother.

"At least mine isn't predictable."

Wanda was dressed in a witch costume with a large black pointy hat. She didn't look so bad with her black cloak and broomstick. Pietro was standing next to her in a cheesy devil's costume. He had fake red horns and a short red cape.

Soon Bruce, Sam, Rhodey, Peter, and the super-soldiers joined the rest of the group. Bruce was dressed in a rushed Frankenstein's monster costume with fake screws on the side of his head. Sam was dressed as a werewolf but without his mask, and Rhodey was a doctor. Peter was dressed as a cowboy with a hat and boots.

When Bucky saw you, he adjusted your crown like you had done to him before. "I think you look nice."

"Yeah, whatever," you told him, pretending not to care.

"Hey (Y/N)." You looked to your left and a bright flash hit your eyes. You blinked hard to shake it off and noticed Peter with a camera.

"Don't let Tony get his hands on those," you warned.

Not long after that guests started to arrive. Agents that they've worked with and close friends. All of them were wearing different costumes ranging from creative to tacky.

You hung around Barnes most of the time drinking and judging others' costumes. At one point someone walked up to him and complimented his costume in a flirtatious manner. It bugged you so you stared at them until they left. Bucky noticed but didn't say anything, just smiled.

"Everyone wants to have some fun?" Tony spoke into a microphone. The crowd of people cheered, and the genius pressed a button.

Suddenly holographic images of various Halloween monsters popped up around the room. Many people screamed but then laughed when they were reassured it was fake. You unconsciously moved out of the way when a realistic-looking zombie passed by you.

As you spoke to Bucky you noticed a tall figure with an eyepatch in the crowd. You thought it was just your imagination but when you realized who you were looking at you nearly spit out your drink. "Thor?!"

Hearing his name over the music, the god of thunder made his way towards you. "(Y/N)! It is great to see you again!"

You looked at him amazed. "How- When did you get here?"

"Earlier today. Stark told me to stay out of sight before the party. He said it was to be a surprise," he explained. He quickly greeted Bucky before turning back to you.

"How are things in Asgard?" you asked him.

"They are well. Reconstruction is moving fast; Loki is making much-needed improvements. He and Valkyrie are good advisors."

"I'm guessing it's like having an angel and a devil on your shoulder," you joke.

"You would think, but they actually do agree on a lot of things. Sometimes it's frightening."

"Speaking of your brother..." you look around the crowd hoping to see a certain trickster. Bucky frowns at that and goes off to join Steve and Sam.

"Loki, he is-"

"Thor!"

The god is cut off as Bruce embraces him. Thor chuckles. "Good to see you too Banner."

You spend most of the party catching up with Thor and Bruce. You and the scientist were eager to know what was happening in Asgard and how your friends were doing.

By the time Thor had told you most of it, you realized the party was ending and the guests were leaving. The only one left behind besides the team was Peter who was waiting for someone to give him a ride.

"Did you have fun?" you asked the teen as you flicked his cowboy hat, making it fall over his eyes.

Peter chuckled and fixed it. "It was okay."

"Wait until you're allowed to drink, then it gets more bearable."

"Stop corrupting him," Tony told you.

You laughed. "Nice job on the holograms. I'm guessing that's your nightmare simulator."

"Pretty cool, right?"

You looked at one of the nearby zombies. "Yeah, they are."

You tried to put your hand through it like you had seen people do all night, but instead of going through nothing but air, you touched the rotting corpse's decaying flesh. Freaked out, you and Peter backed away from the thing. You thought it was a joke or maybe a guest in really good makeup but even Stark looked unnerved.

"Is that thing real?" Peter asked. You pushed him behind you.

"Come on, that's so fake," Clint said as he turned to a 'holographic' werewolf. The archer tried to put his hand through the creature's chest but when he felt it was solid, he jumped back. The beast snarled at him and he ran next to you. The rest of the team saw everything and cautiously backed away from the monsters and into the center of the room.

"Friday," Tony called out. "Turn off the simulator!"

"The simulator has been off since the guest left," Friday told him. "None of my programs are causing this."

Thor punched one of the werewolves as they got to close. "This does not feel like a trick of the light, Stark."

"Are you telling me this thing is real?!" Sam shouted as he kicked a zombie away from him.

Steve ducked as a vampire looking creature slashed at him. "Whatever they are, I don't think they're friendly."

"If we stay here, we're sitting ducks," Natasha said.

"Good point," you said, whacking one of the things with your fake sword. "I say we make a run for it."

"I think that's a stupid idea," Rhodey told you. "Splitting up is how we die."

"Good luck with that," Pietro said as he speeds away.

"Coward," Clint shouted at him.

Wanda used her powers to toss all the creatures a few feet away. Everyone took advantage of this and booked it out of there in different directions. Most of them were in pairs but with your luck, you ended up alone.

You ended up in a hallway by yourself. You thought you were safe until you heard heavy footsteps coming towards your direction. You slowly backed away, but a large werewolf came around the corner and made eye contact with you. You froze for a second as the creature walked towards you. You could hear its heavy breathing and low growling.

"Okay big guy," you told him. "Give me what you got."

The creature suddenly lunged at you with its sharp claws. You sneered at it as it knocked your crown off your head. "That was rude."

You kicked it away from you, but it didn't seem to do much damage. You were mostly dodging until it managed to overpower you and pinned you to the ground. You cringed and turned your head away as it bared its teeth.

"You need a mint," you said. It growled and you shut your eyes expecting it to bite down on your face.

"My breath does not smell that bad." Confused, you looked up and saw that you were no longer being held down by a ferocious werewolf, instead, it was a long black-haired prince.

"You bastard," you shoved Loki off you as he laughed.

"Don't tell me you aren't glad to see me?" he teased.

You got off the ground and dusted yourself off. You glared at him as you fought back a smile. "You have some nerve Loki."

Loki grinned and got close to your face. "It was too easy; I just couldn't help myself."

This time you couldn't help but laugh. "Okay, that was a surprisingly good prank. Your illusions even tricked Thor."

"They always work on him."

"Let's hope you didn't scare the others too badly." You were going to head back to the living area, but Loki stopped you.

"You're forgetting something." He carefully placed your fake crown back on your head. "If you go back with me to Asgard I'll give you a real one."

"Tempting," you tell him.

"Loki!" You hear various people yell, as well as running coming from down the hall.

"Looks like everyone figured out my trick."

"Yeah, you better run."

Loki did as you said as Thor came around the corner with lightning around him. A group of pissed-off looking Avengers not that far behind.
