The African American Civil Rights Movement

The history of the African American Civil Rights Movement never ends. We never reach a point where we say,
"Well, the activists achieved their goal, racism is dealt with, and we all see black people as equal".
Instead, we win a battle, but we never really win the war. It's like a dormant volcano. We know racism is there, but every couple of years, the civil rights of black people are violated, and everything erupts.
After slavery was abolished, black people were still greatly unequal to white people, but at least they weren't property under the law. Keywords being under the law. Black people working at plantations remained at those plantations being paid almost close to nothing for the same amount of work.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal", actually just meant white rich men.

There was never any true equality, and in the 60s and 50s, the eras of the despicable Jim Crow laws, Martin Luther King and many others protested against segregation. At the time this was probably the biggest movement. Martin Luther King and many others protested peacefully, but they were still attacked by police. Sound familiar? We are repeating history. Injustice against black people is done, powerful movements protest and the police handle it with violence. It's sad and scary because the question I'm asking is, will this ever stop? In the 60s, segregation was ended, completely, and you'd assume that's when we move on. You'd assume this is the point where the police and the African American community can form trust, and trust the police with their safety and lives, but no. 60 years later, 2020 struck. The worst year since 2016, and we're supposed to look at this country and say 'such improvement'? Why? All I see on the streets is sadness, violence, and grief. What scares me the most is what if this was all for nothing? What if, when the protests end, the government passes some reforms, the country goes back to a somewhat peaceful reality, but 60 years later, another innocent black person is murdered at the hands of law enforcement? I hope it doesn't turn out this way, because we can not

afford to lose another person like this. Not in this way. It's despicable.
