Roselyn

(2 days till Double Day)

Iris and I sat in the grass in the meadow area in front of the castle.

Couple feet away from us were royal guards watching the horizon then watching us then back.

King Charles didn't want me outside the castle walls but agreed when I said I'll let the guards come with.

We were still in the castle gates surrounded by our pack and Dark Eclipse so it's not like anything could happen but he just wanted to be sure.

Logan was with my dad teaching Dark Eclipse the landscape where the battle would take place. They trained and prepared all hours of the day and only slept for a couple.

"Ugh if I could just smack Garrett into another dimension and him stay there." Iris growled punching her fist into the grass.

I laughed at my friend. "I think James might beat you to it Iris."

"If he does it first I will be so ticked." She grumbled cracking her knuckles. "I can't believe I was engaged to that man."

Chase hadn't spoken a word to me since our walk in the courtyard.

I was still hurt by what he said to me and I felt really terrible for hurting him.

But Chase and I were never meant to be. And I just needed to give him time to accept it. I always try my best to make everyone happy but I'm starting to realize that you can't make everyone happy.

"Can you believe they kicked us out too?" Iris said distastefully.

Iris and I weren't necessarily kicked out in a mean way, we were just asked to leave so the guys could discuss their battle plan.

Which I didn't understand because my dad had said he was glad I was there. So what had changed?

I turned to Iris. "So are you and James, like good? I don't know the status of you guys."

Iris pursed her lips but I could see a small smile.

"We are good. We are giving us a try. But it's nice, he's really calm and sweet and caring. Makes me appreciate the goober." She said.

I smiled happily for my best friend. She deserved a second mate. I was glad she found James.

Iris raised her eyebrow at me. "So you and Logan again? Is it going to stick this time?"

I smiled small. "I have to believe it will... unless Dexter manages to get me."

Iris grabbed my hand. "No Rose don't think like that. Dexter won't get his hands on you, not when we have the Royal pack and Dark Eclipse."

I touched the soft grass beneath us.

I couldn't help but think that what if we did fail? What if Dexter did get me and killed everyone.

'Honey that won't happen.' Rae comforted me.

'But Rae what if? What if something goes wrong a-and we lose?' I said worriedly.

I couldn't bear to lose my father, my mate, my best friend, my new and old pack, and anyone else I cared about. I don't know what I'd do.

'Since when does our mean father and jerk mate lose a battle?' Rae smirked.

'I guess your right.' I huffed.

I needed to have faith and believe that we were all going to make it out of this okay.

"There is another option." Iris whispered quietly so the guards wouldn't hear us.

I looked concerned at my friend. "How?"
