Chapter 21: Kana's Date

"Hurry up, Kana is already there!"

Nami ushered Y/N outside the door and the latter glanced back in haste

"Wait- Why aren't you going?"

"I will catch up later. I still have to buy a few things first."

"But -

"No buts!"

Nami closed the door before Y/N could respond. Y/N sighed and groaned in annoyance

"Nami.. How demanding." Y/N glanced at her wristwatch and decided to get the day over with. She started walking towards her destination so she can meet up with Kana

Apparently, Nami requested- or more like forced Y/N to accompany her and Kana. They are looking for costumes and even though Y/N has yet to decide on her club participation, Nami already concluded that the girl will be joining the Fashion Research club

"Sumiya-san!"

Y/N waved to the girl and rushed towards her direction.

"Sorry I'm late. Did you wait long?"

"No. Not at all." responded Kana in a timid voice as she shook her head in reply. Y/N looked around and searched for a familiar figure

"Wait, where's Nami? She left before me so I thought she would be here by now."

"U-Um, something urgent came up for Nami so I don't think she's coming."

"Really?" Y/N blinked her eyes in surprise and wore a confused look afterwards

"But she was the one who made me come and help with the research. It has something to do with buying outfits for me."

Kana fidgeted in her position as she remembered the plan she and Nami set up. From a distance, Nami was observing them and she shook her head at Kana's behavior

"You're really nervous, Kana." Nami adjusted her hoodie.  "I told her I wouldn't come, but I should still watch over them."

"I'm sorry, Y/N-chan." spoke Kana in a guilty tone but Y/N just waved it off.

"Oh- Don't mind it." Y/N made a thinking expression. "What shall we do now? Should we do the search for another day?"

"Um.. I'm fine with just you, Y/N-chan." Kana looked down on the ground. "A-As long as you don't mind."

"Okay."

Kana looked up and met Y/N's smiling face.

"Since we're already here, we might as well have some fun."

"Hai!"

"Hey, Sumiya-san. How about a movie?"

The two started walking and Nami secretly followed them

"Looks like it's going okay for now." Nami sighed in relief. "Geez, Kana is hopeless without me."

Y/N and Kana entered the cinema where they picked a romance movie. Y/N was teary eyed at the ending while Kana was silently watching with a faint blush on her cheeks.

Next, they bought Ice cream and went to settle down on the benches outside. Nami leaned on the wall as she listened to the girls converse

"Hm. Why don't we try the photobooth? It's on the arcade at the opposite side." Y/N said after finishing her ice cream

The two girls entered the booth and Kana examined the settings carefully

"I've never done one of these."

"This is where you pick the frame." Y/N pointed to a small compartment. "Which one do you want?"

"What the hell? There's something wrong with Y/N knowing how to pull off a date." thought Nami in disbelief. She leaned on the outside of the booth as she continued spying on the two

"And what's more, Y/N doesn't even see this as a date!"

Y/N moved closer to Kana as she prepared to pose

"Doesn't this feel like a date?"

"Huh?!" Kana glanced at Y/N in surprise, just in time for the camera to click. She had a blush on her cheeks and Y/N sheepishly smiled at her afterwards.

"Sorry. That was weird of me to say."

"Oh- No, it isn't."

"Nami was supposed to come with us today anyway. So I just thought that it would be a friendly date and bonding time for us."

Kana's guilt resurfaced and she diverted her gaze to ponder on the words

After venturing the arcade, the two stopped by on a restaurant where Kana revealed the true intention of their meeting

"I'm sorry. I was lying when I said something urgent came up for Nami."

"Huh?"

"She said this was so that you and I could be alone together." Kana looked down and Y/N remained silent as she listened to the words. "Nami came up with it for all my sake."

" I see..."

"That's why... I was so happy that you thought of this as a date, Y/N-chan."

" Oh wow. What is she doing.." mumbled Nami as she laid her head down on the table.

"I-I had a lot of fun today." said Kana which brought a smile on Nami's face. The former was preparing to leave and Nami likewise mirrored her actions

"Well, now that it's out.." Nami sunk back on her seat once Y/N spoke again

"Sumiya-san. Did you know that there's a store around here that sells cute Western clothing?"

Kana stopped in her tracks and looked back curiously

"We came today to do some research anyway." Y/N said in assurance. "And.. I think there will be plenty of clothes you might like. Would you like to go?"

"Y/N-chan..." Kana's eyes slightly widened and Y/N just smiled at her.

"Hai. I would love to go."

Beside them, Nami had a conflicted expression as she listened to Kana's cheerful tone
