I took the little baby sitting in a cup in my hands. It was a boy. He was so small. Such an angel!
"It's a labrador if you are wondering. He's just 21 days old." Alex said and then I dont know what came over me. I just hugged the baby to my chest and started crying.
"Alex you made her cry on Christmas!" Seb said in an upset tone.
"Hey baby! Dont cry. We can return him if you want. I'll buy you something else." Alex said and got down on his knees.
"No! I love him. I love him so much already! I'm never leaving him!" I said in between my sobs.
"Then why are you crying?" He said knitting his eyebrows.
"Becaus I'm happy. I'm so happy." And another fresh round of tears left my eyes. The little puppy started licking my face with his little tongue which made me giggle.
"Thank you so so much Alex! This is the best gift anyone could ever give me!" I said and put my head in his chest.
"I win!" Alex exclaimed.
"You won? What?"
"Actually we had a competition, about whose gift would you love the most. But if we asked you then you wouldn't choose one of us. So we judged your reaction and I clearly won." Alex explained.
"I cant believe this. I mean I cannot choose one of you."
"That's the reason why we kept it a secret from you."
"Anyways. This little baby is so cute." The puppy nuzzled more into me. He liked my scent. He was perfect.
"Hey whose gift is that?" Silas asked pointing at the thin box below the tree.
"I kept it there. Its....dad's. I made it..for him." I said in a small voice. I had packed it in a dark green paper with a snowflake wax seal.

"I figured I'll give it to him when I meet him."
"That's nice. I can keep it with me till then if you want." Alex said.
"Yeah that'll be okay." I said in a sad tone.
"You'll see him soon. Just try not to mention him except when with your family."
"Why so?" I asked. Why would Alex say that?
"No reason. Just it would be odd to mention him. He hasn't visited us in a long while. We don't want people to talk ill about him."
"But why hasn't he visited?"
"Hey Kat. What will you name the little pup?" Hayden asked
