THE CAR ride was filled with conversation, despite there only being two people. shane was reprimanding rosaline for staying silent about lori's sudden absence. of course, she had realized that she had been as bad as daryl not saying anything about her going.

"i know, i know! i just thought that she'd already met up with rick! i don't underestimate lori, not like you at least." the brown-haired girl argued. she wasn't the person that he had played with in the quarry anymore.

rosaline stopped treating him like he was her friendly uncle. to her, he had become a stranger after everything that had happened. shane didn't let that pass by too.

"why are you like this? you used to be so much more compliant." shane complained, "maybe even smarter."

"yeah?" she dragged out, "and you used to be more honest."

     "what?"

before sending another argument his way, a flashing light caught rosaline's attention, and not only here's because rhaegar seemed to have started barking too.

rosaline slammed her hand on the dash hushing her dog, "stop. look! that's one of our cars."

shane slammed the breaks, pulling the car to a stop. the other vehicle was totaled. it looked like it had collided with something and spinner over on its back mid-air.

fear screamed in rosaline's head and her stomach dropped. what if she died? this would be on her. she let rhaegar out of the car, blood pounding in her ears.

this time she didn't have anything to let him sniff but she trusted his instincts, "find lori." the girl demanded.

the dog barked and lifted his nose to scent the cool night air. she prayed to god that lori was safe and alive. shane immediately went to check the car.

a dead walker was hanging limp. no sign of lori.

"lori!" they both let out a sharp whisper.

a distant rumbling sounded in the distance, startling them both. could that be her?

"get to the car." shane demanded. he let out a whistle and rhaegar raced back over to the car hopping in the back seat when the door opened. rosaline climbed into the passenger seat.

shane pressed the gas, driving them forward in a harsh increase of speed. after another three minutes on the road, a dark figure appeared in the headlights.
