Words couldn't describe Jersey's feelings. In her opinion, it seemed so chimerical to hear Malcolm profess his love for her. She didn't think their relationship would go this far, to the point where their feelings grew potent for one another. The scene still played repetitively in her head.

Flashback [start]

"I love you." Malcolm allowed those words to slip out of his mouth as he studied her face once again, wanting to see her reaction.

Jersey blinked a few times, not believing her ears. She adjusted herself and looked at him surprisingly.

"Mal—"

"I'm saying it because I mean it." Malcolm interrupted her.
"I'm not in my feelings or no shit like that. And if you don't feel the same way, I understand."

"No, don't make assumptions like that." She replied softly while running her hand over his hairy face. Jersey kissed him again and pulled back to stare into those enticing eyes of his. "I love you too."

Flashback [over]

Malcolm wasn't perfect, he had his faults, and that's what drew Jersey to him. She liked how different he was from other men. He had a hard exterior, but he was a sweetheart interiorly. He was always full of surprises; she never grew bored with him around.

They had intellectual conversations that she always enjoyed. Malcolm fucked her good and brought her to many orgasms—which Jersey wasn't used to getting. He gifted her significant items that held a lot of value, and let's not forget how protective he'd grown over her. Jersey always felt safe in his arms; she knew he wouldn't let anyone harm her.

Jersey's expensive apartment did come with a balcony, which was the most exciting area of the place—her opinion. She took the opportunity to do some decorating. A couple of winter-friendly potted plants were displayed on the bamboo stand, an outdoor rug, and two chairs that matched the coffee table.

Malcolm felt like it was a waste of money and decorations. They lived in New York, and it was the end of November. The weather wasn't exactly friendly enough for her to chill outside. She would have to be bundled up in coats. Jersey didn't seem to care about his opinion; she still had plans to get herself a heater so that she wouldn't freeze to death.

When she woke up, she realized it was around seven in the morning. Jersey raised while wiping the crust from her eyes. She placed her eyes on the digital clock that set on the nightstand to her right to get a good look at the exact time again.

7:45 a.m.

"Damn, I have to get up." She pulled herself away from the comfortable bed and strode into the bathroom.

Jersey studied herself in the mirror and realized how tired she looked. Her hair was wild and frizzy from not wearing a bonnet, she carried small bags underneath her eyes, and her stomach growled desperately for food.

But the food was the furthest thing on her mind. Today, Jersey would be meeting with Mrs. Joana for her first day of work. She'd grown accustomed to Givin' Back, but she was nervous about working as an executive associate. Malcolm kept telling her not to worry, but she couldn't help but do just that.

Jersey bent over to open her cabinet door. She grabbed her hairbrush and stood up straight to inspect it. After closing the cabinet door with her leg, she twisted the top of the brush off. Quickly, she pulled out a bag of weed that had been concealed in the brush since yesterday.

Her nerves were fucking with her, so she couldn't help but to roll up. After forming a decent looking blunt, she found her ashtray, lit the blunt, and continued to get ready.
