Artemis was untouchable. More untouchable than every other god.

Just like the pomegranate was forbidden to Persephone, the gods were something forbidden to mortals other than worship, naturally. They taunted them, their presence ever-so alluring, an off-limits fruit that looked intensely delicious on the outside, but filled with venom on the inside. Sickly sweet poison that was known to be killing the human body, but there was no way to stop. Instead of fighting it, attempting to fend off the poison, they savoured that sweet- that high- until their very last moments. Indulged in the very thing that was killing them.
