And Chiron test the weapon found
By boy who slumbered deep on ground.
He swings the club with mighty heave
And shield of bronze he crushing cleaves.

"With hard and knotty wood it's sown
From ancient trees no longer grown.
A gift from Satyr Pan the god
Of places wild and worlds untrod.

So strange and punctual gift was gave
To help you send your foes to grave.
He tightly holds his treasures close
That god is greedy more than most."

And Chiron hands the club to boy
Who treats the gift like fav'rite toy.
"Perhaps he simply heard I'm best"
The boy did say with cocky jest.

"Beware your pride in front of gods
Divines prefer that men be awed.
And even jesting refrain from boast
For gods too like to play their jokes.

Perhaps they'll grant you donkey ears
Or summon forth you greatest fears.
Remember men can't even behold
The truest forms of godlike fold.

The sight would melt your mortal form
And mind by seeing god be torn."
And Chiron bid the boy to come
And learn the crafts he teaches son.

And after training all the day
He takes the boy aside to say.
"The day is drawing nigh at hand
For boy to join the world of man.

He's almost grown and almost trained
And almost learned to think with brain.
Beware in land where men now live
For forces dark will trouble give.

To boy for sake of fathers sins"
With final note his speech does end.
And fewer seasons passed in woods
Where boy did live a man now stood.

And bid his father bye to leave
And fellow man he goes to see.
