A LIE AND A KISS
___________
SHE RAN THE TIP OF THE STRAWBERRY GLOSS ACROSS HER LIPS AND SCREWED IT CLOSE ONCE HER LIPS RIVALLED THE COLOR OF STRAWBERRIES. She smoothed down her knee-length white sundress and checked her eyelids to make sure her liquid eyeliner wasn't smudged. Stepping back once she was done, she checked herself in her mirror. She had put the least amount of make-up, wore a nice dress and was ready for dinner. Her parents weren't coming--they had to go for an urgent mission, or at least that's what they had said and Effy didn't believe them one bit. She was expecting some drunk people by 3am in the morning.
Remembering to close the door after leaving the house, she slowly walked towards the Bakugou household.
After Bakugou had stormed away after smashing her cigarette, she lit another and that one tasted more disgusting. What she was doing already disgusted her, she knew, but after whatever unfolded a few hours ago made her think of herself nothing less than grotesque. All she could do was hope that he didn't tell his parents. Shakily ringing the doorbell of his huge house, she held her breath. After a few moments of waiting, she heard hurried shuffles behind the door. Then she heard a 'SMACK!' and an "Ack!" Her best guess was that Bakugou was hit by his mother. Then the door swung open.
"Kaya-chan!" said Mrs. Bakugou, "Hello!"
Effy waved and flashed her award-winning smile, "Hi, Mrs. Bakugou." The blonde lady's eyes roamed around behind Effy and then she asked, "Where're your mum and dad?"
Effy smiled timidly and rubbed her nape, "Ah, they had an urgent mission. Work, y'know?"
With understanding smiles, albeit Bakugou's scowl, she was welcome inside and sat at the dinner table, where the food was already set up. Their house was as big as Effy's and the food on the table didn't fail to amaze her taste buds. "This is so good!" she said, taking another bite of the pork. "Have as much as you like, dear." Effy hadn't had good food like this years altogether and she wouldn't be surprised with herself if she finished all the food in their house. Her mother hadn't made any decent food for the family in a span of at least five years and she considered coming her more often.
This was the first time she was having dinner at the Bakugou household even though they've been neighbors for all of her life. Sure, the mothers of the two families met in grocery stores and other places but never had the family of pro heroes been invited for dinner by their neighbors. Whilst chewing her rice, she glanced at the teenager who was sitting across her. She gave him the best smile she could muster with a full mouth as he stared at her in disbelief.
Bakugou could only wonder how she did it. A few hours ago, she was smoking a fucking cancer stick, looking all sad and now lo behold, here she was endlessly complementing his mother's cooking as if she hadn't been eating for years with the biggest smile on her face. He was sure as hell she was faking every single thing.
