Present day:

   Emily was now relaxed against Steve's chest.

   "Is she okay?" Bucky asked, rounding the corner.

   "She said something about River's eyes then started bawling."

She whimpered against his chest, mumbling something about Howard Stark. Bucky blushed.

   "I'm sorry, what?" Steve asked

Emily looked to Bucky.

"She has her father's eyes doesn't she?" She asked

Bucky nodded.

"Her brother freaked when he met her boyfriend didn't he?" She laughed quietly.

    He nodded again.

"I'm lost." Steve said

"Stay that way." Bucky said, patting him on the shoulder.

Steve squinted at his friend. Emily nuzzled into him, placing a small kiss on his neck. He closed his eyes and took a deep breathe.

Suddenly an alarm went off and Tony ran into the hall.

"Hydra agents in the city." He said "causing problems."

His eyes darted to Emily.

"They're looking for her."

Steve held her closer. As though scared someone was going to take her from him. Emily gripped his shirt. Her eyes darted between Bucky and Steve.

   "No one is getting to you." Bucky said "I'll kill them first."

Steve slid her off of his lap and stood.

"Don't go." She said quickly.

He picked her up.

"I'm not going anywhere. Never again." He promised

Emily leaned into his chest. She was scared.

   "We'll keep you safe Em." Tony said.

River ran into the hall.

   "We have a problem." She said

"What?" Tony asked

"There's hydra agents at the wall." She said, pulling her knives.

"No you're not fighting." Bucky said "I have something more important for you to do "

He smiled weakly and gestured for Steve to put Emily down.

"Take my sister and run." He said "Please."

   Steve looked to River.

"Keep her safe." He managed.

They hadn't been apart since she came to the compound.

  River nodded. Emily gave a fearful look back to Steve before the two girls ran down the hall, towards the sub level.
