UPON HIS return, daryl had explained what happened. how he and carol saw the car that took beth, how they followed them into the city and then met a kid called noah. he knew beth and the inside layout of the hospital.

however, carol had been ran over by them and taken inside. she'd meet up with beth but now they had to get both of them back.

the marksman had apologized to rosaline for leaving without a word, knowing that she'd been worried sick about him. although, he felt like he owed beth and had to try.

inside, the group were starting to prepare materials for their trip to atlanta and fortifying the church. their catch up with abraham's group had been delayed once again.

sasha was furiously hacking up wood, trying to grieve over her dead boyfriend. rosa was at her side, helping her. daryl shared a glance with his girlfriend as he walked past. he could see how hard sasha was taking things.

around an hour later, it was time to go to atlanta. the girl had already put herself forward to go. she'd said her goodbyes to judith and carl before packing supplies into the car with daryl.

"rhaegar comin'?" daryl queried, jerking his chin towards the dog who was waiting for her at the staircase, wagging his tail eagerly.

she let out a breath, staring back at her four-legged companion, "is it a good idea? how bad is the city?"

the marksman placed a bag in the car, "still a lot of walkers there, you don't gotta take him he could stay back here and protect the kid."

she shrugged, turning to rick, "you mind if we take rheaegar?"

"no he'll go in the back with us." the leader replied, shortly, "or you can leave him here with michonne and carl too."

rosaline thought it through for a moment. the german shepherd hadn't been doing any heavy work for a long time, and he loved to work. working meant protecting them and killing walkers or following orders.

"he can come." she waved, patting the car with a small whistle.

the canine ran over, hopping into the back, tail wagging excitedly. it reminded him of when they used to do runs.

"atta boy." daryl muttered scratching a spot under his chin roughly, the dog sticking his tongue out enjoying the praise. if it wasn't obvious enough, daryl loved rhaegar.

he was a dog person after all, even if he tried to hide it.

everyone who was going got into the truck. the trip wasn't going to be long. they weren't far from atlanta. it was really surprising how far they'd circled around the main city, thinking back to a year and a half ago.
