A L E S S I A ' S  P O V

I went out for my morning jog before online school after Richard left for work. He doesn't know I learn as far as he knows I am dumb and one day came home mute but that's a story for another time. After my jog I opened my laptop starting my Arabic class.

I found this laptop when I was six cleaning the attic, it had a charger beside it. At first I didn't know how to work it but I learned.

I had finished preparing dinner and now I was waiting for Richard, well my father but I don't consider him as one, to come home. It's 6:30 and he isn't yet here, I think he's taunting me but he always comes at 6PM.

I was broken out of my thoughts when the door bell rang. That can't be Richard, he'd just walk in.

I slowly crept to the door and looked through the peep hole. A woman stood there accompanied by two men in police uniforms. Richard said never go to the police unless I'll get it worse. They surely must have the wrong address....right?

I came back to my senses when the door bell rang again. Pulling down my sleeves to cover the bruises I opened the door slightly still weary of them.

"Hello, are you Bella Davids?" The woman asked.

I nodded cautiously and her face instantly turned sad. Why is she sad?

"We're sorry to inform you Ms Davids but your step-father, Richard Davids, got into a car accident and sadly didn't make it," one of the officers informed me. Wait, is he serious?! That is the greatest news I've received my whole life!

I quickly covered my excitement with a blank face that surely shocked them. I think they thought I would be bawling my eyes out, but for that monster, NEVER! I hope he rots in hell! Satan would probably kick him out. I know you might think I'm crazy for wishing death upon my father but I guess I've been crazy since I was 5 years old.

"Well sweetie, I'm Cara and I'm you're social worker. For now I would like you to pack your things so we can head to the police station and look for any of your relatives to see if they will take you in," the woman, Cara, explained.

I just nodded my head again.

I hesitantly let them in as I headed upstairs to pack my clothes hearing gasps behind me. I took a small suitcase that I also found in the attic and started packing my clothes and laptop and the charger. I didn't have a lot but I don't need questions of asking why I only have a back pack with me. I opened the loose wooden floor and took out my teddy bear, Fluffles, don't judge! And my medical kit. Then I headed into the bathroom to pack up my toiletries but not before doing a little happy dance.

Heading downstairs to find Cara with one of the police officer's sitting on the worn out couch in the living room and the other officer looking at a picture frame. Richard thought it would be a good idea to take a family photo just incase anyone is suspicious.

I cleared my throat to make my presence known.

"Is that all?" She asked, shocked and curious. I didn't reply to her and she got the message that I don't want to talk to her. She's kind of intrusive and I don't like intrusive at all. I mind my business you mind yours.

We left the house and entered her car with the policemen's car following closely behind. After we reached Cara left claiming she was going to search for my relatives. I took a seat in one of the chairs.

--A few hours later--

One of the officer's from earlier came to me with a mug of hot cocoa since it's cold outside and a sandwich saying I should probably get some rest for tomorrow.

I drank the cocoa and ate half of the sandwich but then I was full so I ended up just leaving the rest for when I need it again.

--The next morning--

I woke up in the police station. I thought yesterday was a dream. Looking around the room I found a clock and saw it's 5AM, the usual time I wake up. I laid back down looking up at the ceiling drowning in my thoughts.

"What relatives? "

"I don't remember having any? "

I was soon broken away by the opening of the door. Cara stood there with an excited expression. I wonder what she's happy about this early in the morning? She quickly walked to me her smile growing bigger every step she takes. Total weirdo.

"Great News!" She squealed like that was suppose to lessen my confusion, "we found one of your relatives. Your father! We were able to contact him and he said he'll be more than happy to take you in!"

OH, so that's what she's happy about. Wait! What?! Father?! I thought David was my father?!

Stupid idiot! Don't u remember her mentioning step-father.

Hey! I'm not stupid! I'm getting my masters next week!

Mhm! And yet you act like a 5-year-old.

"Alessia? Alessia? Alessia?!" I was pulled out of my mental argument from Cara's voice.

"Were you even listening?" I shook my head as an answer.

"Well to sum it up, your plane leaves at 11AM since your father wanted you to be there as soon as possible that's in about an hour, then your eldest brother will pick you up." I have a brother? "He's name is Antonio."

I picked a piece of paper and a pen since they had figured out I don't talk and asked "I have a brother? "

"Yes, you do, 5 in fact but I don't know their names, only your eldest Antonio." FIVE?! WHAT THE HELL?! How horny can they be? How am I supposed to handle 5 of them?! Wait, what if they are like Richard?! I'll just have to keep my guard up and distance but I'm done being afraid, let's just see how long before I can get them to kick me out so I can get Bella to adopt me.

"Now we must get going to the airport unless we'll be late," she said glancing down at her wrist watch.

--At the airport--

We had just finished going through security when we reached the gateway. I turned around to see a tear stained face Cara. OH God, she's emotional.

"I know we haven't known each other for long but I feel like we've been friends for life," she blabbered, "I hope we'll meet again and have a safe journey and enjoy your new family."

Feeling sorry for the woman, I gave her a little smile which seemed to brighten her whole mood. She then went on to tell me all the instructions again to reach to my new home safely.

Guess where I turned out to be heading to.....
