Chapter 13 - I Don't Recall (1)

Chi Ying contemplated the legitimacy of this account. Its profile picture was simple and clean with no fluff. That matched Li Jinyuan's style.

She finally decided on ignoring it and went over to look at her class group chat.

Their class monitor had just posted the notice that the instructor had taken the day off and morning practice was cancelled.

Chi Ying went into the kitchen and took over the task of making breakfast for Chi Cheng.

It was 7:30 AM before Chi Ying washed her hands and went to push open the door to her baby's room. Immediately, she could smell the thick milky scent of a baby.

Chi Cheng was sound asleep and breathing evenly. She didn't know how good a dream he was having, but there was a small curve on his lips.

Smiling, Chi Ying patted him. "Little ChengCheng, time to wake up."

Chi Cheng rolled over and, with a tug of his little arm, the blanket went over his head and he curled up into a little ball under it.

Chi Ying couldn't help but chuckle and kept on trying to wake him up.

Amidst her calling, Chi Cheng yawned groggily and finally woke up slowly.

He stuck out his fuzzy head from under the blanket. His eyes were pretty like black grapes. A second ago, his eyes were still covered in a layer of fog, but it turned shiny immediately once he had spotted his mother.

"Good morning, Mom." Chi Cheng's little mouth cracked open, and he climbed up in bed and threw himself into her arms. He wrapped his arms around her and stuck onto her like a piece of gum.

Chi Ying's eyes curved. She took Chi Cheng to get ready and then helped him put on the British-style school uniform.

With the tie perfected knotted, he was handsome like a little adult.

Perhaps, the uniform made him feel a sense of duty. Chi Cheng sat in front of the dinner table very properly and solemnly while he waited for his mother to bring him his breakfast.

When he saw the fruit sandwich, egg bread, and the tray with cartoon characters smeared with chocolate paste, he finally couldn't help but give away a big smile.

While Chi Ying made him his milk, she said to him, "Little ChengCheng, mommy wants to apologize to you. Mommy was tied up last night and wasn't able to pick you up at the kindergarten or go to bed with you."

"Mommy doesn't need to apologize," said Chi Cheng as he waved his stubby and white little arm and gave her a comforting look. "Grandma told me that mommy was busy and worked very hard. I understand, Mommy."

Chi Ying rubbed his head roughly. "How are you so mature?"

After breakfast, Chi Ying took Chi Cheng to school. His school was a British-style noble kindergarten. Its tuition was high but close to their house. It was located within their mansion district and only a 10-minute walk away.

Chi Cheng, his hand in Chi Ying's, could not contain his look of happiness and excitement. Not only did he not have any fear of leaving the house, he seemed very happy.

Chi Ying couldn't help but ask, "Do you enjoy going to the kindergarten?"

She was a little nervous as she asked.

Chi Cheng, on the other hand, answered with no hesitation, "Yes! The kindergarten is so big, like a castle!"

Chi Ying felt more relieved now. She squatted down and adjusted his collar for him. "Well, I am glad you like it. ChengCheng will get along with his teachers and fellow classmates, right?"

Chi Cheng held Chi Ying's head with his little hands and planted a kiss on her cheek before he replied in his milky voice, "I will, Mommy. You have to become a big star soon too, okay?"

Chi Ying smiled.

Outside of the kindergarten, the mother and son exchanged kisses repeatedly before they finally reluctantly parted.
