It's odd taking the train by yourself for the first time in your life.

Shoto wasn't with you.
Actually for the first time in ten years, he was more than a few cities away.

You got to your internship at the number 3 hero's agency about two hours before you were supposed to.
Gave you time to stand outside and take it all in.

Best Jeanist was known for being a strict guy, one of elegance, formality.
Obeying authority had never been an issue for you and since you had no resentment towards this one, it wasn't an uncomfortable dynamic anyways.

You're far too stiff. That's the first thing he said to you when you walked through the doors after having dropped off your bag at the hotel next door to his agency. You arrived wearing your hero costume as was instructed.

Heh?

Your posture. It feels as though I'm speaking to a soldier. Loosen up a bit.

Yes, sir.

You can call me Best Jeanist or Jeanist when we're working together. Now, there's no time to waste. You're early, as I expected. Let's talk.

Uh. Okay.

And so he sat you down, explained that he saw you at the festival and thought it was his duty to offer you a position. Not because he thought you were amazing or anything. He said he saw your potential- both to be a good hero and a dangerous one.

There were a lot of things to teach you.

You would've thought that it would bother you when he spoke like that, but it didn't.
Actually, it was nice to be spoken to so directly.
No blurred lines or manipulation or hidden meanings or anything to look out for.

He told it like it was.
That you were obviously powerful. But you obviously had limitations- weak points that could cause a lot of collateral damage.
He said it was essential to learn how to control your emotions better, be exposed to more, not so sheltered as Endeavor had been keeping you. Fact of the matter is both Aizawa and Best Jeanist knew how stunted you must've been- emotionally, mentally- due to Endeavor's parenting style... if you could call it that.

They took that into consideration once you'd chosen this agency...

Best Jeanist gave you a few compliments too.
He liked your hair- thought it was styled neatly enough to not need too much fixing.
He also liked your costume- offered you jeans, but didn't push given your quirk required special arrangements.

From our first meeting I can already tell a lot about you- more than from watching the festival, but there is one thing that is important above the rest, Y/n.

Okay. You nodded, still a bit wound, but remembering to relax your shoulders like he told you.

If you ever feel cornered. Fearful. Like your emotions are overflowing--

I'll tell you, si-- I mean-- I'll tell you, Best Jeanist. I'll be open about it.

Best Jeanist furrowed his brows at that.

Oh. No, you don't have to tell me. We barely know each other, it wouldn't be fair to ask that trust of you yet.

Oh?

Just then, the rest of his new students were starting to come into his agency's lobby. A lot of them were much older, common-looking, probably not from UA.

No, dear. He said. If anything's ever feeling out of control, I want you to tell him.

And then Best Jeanist pointed to the door, where who had just walked in, but your very own Katsuki Bakugo.
