Around the same time that Yeji had gotten news of her suspension, Soobin had gotten his too.

Much like Yeji, he was suspended indefinitely until further notice, but he was expected to be getting a much harsher fate compared to Yeji, as video evidence showed that he had been much more aggressive.

Soobin could only clutch his fist tight, not out of frustration or anger anymore, but out of fear.

He knew his father wasn't going to be taking this news lightly. After all, basketball was one of the few potential career paths he had, and for him to lose that, his father was surely not going to be happy about it.

Soobin grew up with only his father around, his mom having left the family at a young age. But despite so, Soobin remembers the way his mother took care of him, so kindly, so affectionate, and so loving.

Only a few close to the boy knew this fact about him and those that did never dug further into it, knowing full well Soobin's disdain when it came to talking about his family.

But to the general public, Soobin's father was a pretty well-known figure in Korea, being the representative lead detective and investigator when it came to international Korean crime, often working closely with other countries to solve cases that related to citizens of their country.

Was he a good father figure though?

Soobin would have to disagree. Very much so.

He was almost the complete opposite of his mother.

Because his father dealt with criminal activities committed on international grounds, he was often not at home as his job required him to be overseas most of the time.

And even in the rare chance he was home, he was a cold-hearted man who handled every matter whether it was personal or work-related as if he was dealing with lawbreakers, unsympathetic and indifferent, detached and unemotional.

And his own son was treated no differently.

Which only made Soobin more afraid of the man, as the two were currently seated across one another, eating dinner at their family table inside their house.

"D-Dad?" Soobin's voice trembled, his hand unsteadily holding onto his bowl of white rice while the other held chopsticks, unsure of how to break the news that he had been suspended from the basketball team.

His father didn't reply, only continuing to chew on his food silently, but Soobin knew he was listening.

"I ... I-I got suspended from the basketball team today."

His words caused his father to stop in his tracks, before the older man slowly put down his chopsticks, almost menacingly. He was clearly unhappy.

"Why?"

"I-I got into a figh-"

Before Soobin could even finish his sentence, he received a hard slap across his face.

Soobin was stunned, despite the fact that he was already expecting it. After all, that was the way his father did things. It was always about discipline. Receive a punishment and learn from it. It was as simple as that.

His father quietly picked up his chopsticks once more, resuming back to eating as if nothing had happened.

"I-I'm sorry," Soobin managed to mutter out, his voice shaking while his cheeks turned a shade of red from the hit he just received.

"I'll talk to the school about it," his father coldly said, not a hint of anger in his voice, which made it all the worse. "Who?"

"I-I'm sorry, what?" Soobin asked, unsure of what his father meant when he asked who.
