Taeyong balled his fists at his side, desperately clutching on to the seams of his uniforms khaki pants. He hung his head low, eyes flickering side to side as he stared at the ground. Unsure of what to place his focus on.
"Where's my money?" A gritty voice questioned. They stood in the hallway in front of Taeyongs locker, few students occasionally walking by with their eyes fixed ahead and avoiding the two, while others were gossiping idly at the side.
The moment Taeyong moved to the school last semester, he became popular amongst the other students for his beauty and aloof persona. Soon he turned into a beacon of loathing for the rest of the male population. Taeyong couldn't help it, he tried to keep to himself, which is why he appeared cold in the first place - to chase people away. He wanted to remain unnoticed, but it was to no avail as he stood out like a sore thumb. Eyes so grand and expressive, soft as the rest of his facial features. He even made some of the girls feel insecure.
Soon he caught the attention of the school's bully. "Answer me, shuttle." It was the voice of his senior, Hyoeun, well known for picking on the weaker students. Unfortunately, Taeyong became his newest target. After that many people avoided interacting with him, afraid they'd be next by association. Taeyong never made a single friend as a result.
He was forced to give his lunch money to Hyoeun, buy his cigarettes, carry his things around and even do his homework for him among other things. A lacky, that's what they sugarcoated it as. However Taeyong just thought it was another word for unlucky. It was like Hyoeun was proving a point to him, as if he was saying, you're nothing special. And eventually Taeyong began to feel that way.
When the summer holidays came, Taeyong was so grateful, that he had a break from being Hyoeun's shuttle at least for a while. But now that the school term had started again he wished he could go back to yesterday.
"I-I...I don't have any f-for you today..." Taeyong sheepishly replied, still refusing to look him in the eyes. He had purposefully packed his lunch today, instead of bringing money so that he would have an excuse.
"What do you mean you don't have any?" Hyoeun raised his voice while forcefully tapping Taeyong on the shoulder with his fingers, hard enough that he nearly lost his balance. "Hmmm? What do you mean? Look at me shuttle when I'm talking to you." He demanded, grabbing Taeyong by the chin and forcing his gaze upwards. Taeyong eyes quickly darted around to see a few students gazing at him but soon turning away when he would lock eyes with them. They weren't going to help him, they never did.
His eyes fell back on to the senior who forcefully gripped his chin, demanding his attention. "Do you know why you're called a shuttle? It's cause you bring us stuff free of cost." He stated loudly.
"I...I brought lunch today. My parents didn't give me my allowance." He muttered then clenched his fists tighter that his knuckles blanched. "Is that so?" Hyoeun laughed briefly before his face twisted into a sneer. "Open your locker!" He ordered with a ferocious tone which caused those who were in their vicinity to halt their movements and stare blatantly at the scene unfolding.
