Y/n is about to join the FBI Behavioural Analysis Training Programme led by Section Chief Emily Prentiss. The night before, Y/n decides to blow off some steam at their local bar when they meet a welcome distraction. Little do they know, that one night is about to affect the entire beginning of their new career.

"I'm living in hell. At least that's how it feels. But it's okay because I don't know any different. You can get used to anything if you think it's meant to be." Y/n is living her life in the hell of her childhood home until the BAU frees her. After years there is a reunion with her rescuers to help solve her own case. Does everybody still recognize her? Does y/n remember what happend? Is she good enough and able to help? And why can't she get Emily Prentiss out of her head? I'm writing this story from the first person perspective. I use the pronouns she/her for y/n, if you would like something different, let me know. This is my first story and English is not my first language, so please be gracious. This story covers toxic parents, murder (not clearly described), violence and mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self-harm and suicide attempt/ thoughts. You and Emily met at the BAU when she transferred back from Interpol after Hotch had hired you a few months before. You fit right into the team when you joined, and naturally developed a great friendship with Emily when she returned too. But that friendship quickly developed into a little something more, and although you'd agreed to keep it secret from the rest of the team, it was getting harder to hide how much you cared for each other, especially when one particular case puts you right at the forefront of the team's investigation. This fanfic will revolve around y/n having mental health issues, and whilst the relationship with Emily will play a large part in the storyline, I want to keep it as realistic as possible so y/n's mental health problems will continue throughout. For the purposes of this story, Emily's return from Interpol is the only reason why she's left the BAU, the Ian Doyle storyline has not happened yet. background info: the bau, and the team, had always been understanding of your mental health, letting you take days or weeks off when you weren't feeling too great. this time things got really bad and you tried to end your life. you had been off work for a month and hadn't seen anyone since. the team come by to check if you're ok and are satisfied with you telling them through the door. but that isn't enough for emily anymore. trigger warning: this will include talk of mental illness, self harm (nothing too graphic), mention of a suicide attempt (in the past) and other themes related to this. please do not read if you think this will trigger you, keep yourself safe<3
