James Madison hated himself.
He hated that his mother left him when he was 3, he hated that his father couldn't get a job, and he hated himself for thinking everything would be okay.
Thomas Jefferson had everything.
He had a home, he had parents, he had all the money he could need. These two boys seemed like they couldn't be more different- But what actually linked them together wasn't their lack of friends, or their social awkwardness, no.
Thomas Jefferson hated himself, too.
And in this way, they couldn't be more alike.
