Caden, a 17 year old boy from the city of Northfall, finds himself exploring the forest one night. After a curious encounter with a sentient shadow, he wakes up in the Shadow dimension, otherwise known as the Stitch Realm, and discovers that he himself has become a shadow. While getting used to his new life he must figure out why shadows are transforming into raging monsters, why Axel, the leader of Xess, has taken him under his wing, and most importantly, how to get home (if he even can). Axel, however, may have some other ideas in mind.

But the damage he's done, is permanent. For all of a sudden, every Beacontowner looks at Jesse with hate in their eyes. Believing that she is the one who torn down their builds, locked them up, and turned the cheerful city into a dark and feared place. And in this story, the title as Hero in Residence won't be all that Jesse loses. Can she and her two remaining friends find peace, after everything they've been through?

Jesse has always had a friend to look up to; to lean on; to get help from, but she never spoke of her brother. She has dealt with a lot, with all the Witherstorms, White pumpkins, the Admin, but she could never deal with her brother gone missing. She always wishes for her brother to come, but will he?
