Dreams suck. Idris can tell you that. She was a knight for about five minutes till she was kicked out of the castle for being a girl. Or Alvira. She just wanted to be a good fairy and help a princess, but she got stepped on by a witch. Or Zepheriah. She's a pirate that wanted to renounce her ways but the thrill of stealing was too tempting. Even Sieran. All she wanted to do was stop killing people with her voice. Instead she ended up owing a debt to a warlock (nasty business). The point is: Their lives aren't fairytales. Fairytales make it seem easy. But this is a new kind of tale. One that certainly doesn't do 'happily ever after'.

The other Gods relaxed, confident that Alice Cunningham didn't stand a chance. After all, no one could resist Aphrodite.
