Merlin lays his life on the line to save Arthur yet again, only this time there are witnesses, lots of them. Only Arthur prevents him going to the headman's axe straight away, but Arthur alone cannot save him. That is up to both of them. Pairing: Merlin/Arthur This is set some time after season 1 of BBC's Merlin. It was originally written for the Merlin Big Bang on Livejournal in 2009.

Merthur AU (Set around early season 4) Arthur Pendragon is the new king of Camelot having assumed the throne after his father's death at the hands of his sister, Morgana. One day while out on a hunt, a Druid appears, telling him of his destiny; a man named Emrys who resides in Ealdor. The Druid advises the king to seek out the man, for Arthur's destiny cannot begin without him, for he is Morgana's doom. Merlin is a young warlock living in the small farming village of Ealdor. His life is quiet. He spends his days toiling away at the fields with his best friend Will while honing his magical talents with the help of his mentor, Gaius, the physician from Camelot who visits on occasion. When he meets Arthur Pendragon, he can't help but hate the prat. Of course, until he gets to know him better. Meanwhile, Morgana scours the kingdom for the sorcerer Emrys. Desperate to find him before he finds her. When her search leads her towards Ealdor, she's surprised to find Arthur there, and with a scrawny peasant boy no less. As their paths cross in the usually uneventful village, it becomes a race between the son and daughter of Uther Pendragon to either save or destroy Emrys.

Uther thought that Balinor died along with the rest of the Dragon Lords during the great purge. However, rumors are spreading. Not only is his former friend alive, but he has a son? Will Merlin be able to keep his identity hidden as Uther expands his search for Balinor and his alleged son? He only heard a faint bump when he should have heard something a lot louder. Merlin's fears from the previous day came true as he sat there in bed trying to process it. The ringing had gone, but he still couldn't hear anything. OR Merlin gets injured in a fight and is rendered temporarily deaf. He doesn't want Arthur to find out, but he does anyway. [This is a Merlin Fan fiction] If there are any trigger warnings they'll be listed on the top of the chapter, Merlin, the knights, and Arthur are on a hunting trip. They begin to talk about girl's and Merlin isn't ready to share what happened with Freya so he "falls asleep" then sneaks off on a short visit to see Freya at Avalon. That is when everything went wrong. Destiny unfolds, enchantments are set, betrayals occur and blood is shed. In the end the only way to fix all these things is to rid of Morgana but that has proven time and time again to be a difficult task. The only dead main character is Uther and Morgause. Yes Morgana, Lancelot, Are very alive.

A modern day AU where Arthur is a doctor and a fellow named Merlin is his patient, who also turns out to have terminal cancer. Arthur finds out that he has little friends, and is determined to help him have good days before he dies--until he finds himself wishing for his new friend to be more than a friend. Note - I'm not that knowledgeable on what Doctor's do for their patients so some facts are probably wrong. Oh, and I apologize if Chapter's one and two and a bit more boring than the other four.
