🏆 2025 Amby Favorite 🏆 Edmund Westworth (26), the third Earl of Beaumont, and the most eligible bachelor in London, unknowingly started a tradition he now regrets. At age twenty-two he danced the first dance at the season opening ball at Almack's with a young lady who became the toast of the season. The next year he did the same. Every year since, he has danced one dance, to fulfill his mother's requirement. And every year his dance partner becomes the most sought after girl of the season. Some think he has a gift, Edmund thinks he could pick any girl and 'the ton' would deem her desirable based on his dance alone. His friends disagree and bet him 100£ to choose a dance partner who couldn't possibly entice the gentlemen of London. When her father suddenly passes away, Elizabeth Cavendish (20) has to move in with her aunt's family. With the estate entailed, Elizabeth needs to find a husband quickly or her aunt will install her into a governess or lady's companion position, which would severely hinder Beth's ability to work on her scientific experiments. Garbed in her cousin's horrific dresses from last season, she only has a few weeks to find a husband before she is doomed to tedious work for the rest of her life. She finds an unlikely accomplice in the Earl of Beaumont. Please don't copy any part of my story in any form (including Youtube) without my permission. A war took his leg and the life he expected. One invitation gave him reason to live again. Captain Emmett Shaw, now Lord Shaw, returned from the War of 1812 without his leg and the future he once envisioned. Five years of bitterness and slow acceptance have left him quiet, observant, and far more comfortable with paintbrushes and canvases than with crowded drawing rooms. When his aunt suggests a restorative stay at Eastbury Manor, Emmett agrees, never suspecting the invitation will alter the course of his life. She planned her Season to perfection. Fate had other ideas. Lady Evelyn Wyndham has planned her debut London Season since she wore her hair in braids. She carries a diary of gowns, ball invitations, and eligible suitors with determined enthusiasm. But when her father falls ill, and her presence at home proves more hindrance than help, she is sent to her uncle's estate, only to discover her most insufferable cousin by marriage is already in residence. Resolved to leave the very next day, Evelyn instead finds herself agreeing to a most improper arrangement. A fake engagement. What begins as a convenient deception-designed to draw out a mysterious source-quickly becomes far more complicated. Forced into close quarters, Emmett and Evelyn must confront old grievances, unspoken wounds, and a growing attraction neither anticipated. Because pretending to be betrothed is far easier than risking one's heart.

Thirteen years ago, Clara Lumley's heart shattered as her betrothal came to an end. All she wanted to do was take care of her ill sisters. Now, the sole provider for family, she is a jaded teacher at a boarding school for daughters of the gentry. All thoughts of romance died years ago... Stephen Clifford's world tilted out of control when his father was stripped of his title and accused of wrong doing as Governor General of India. If that wasn't enough, his betrothed ended their engagement over the matter. Rather than sit and wallow in England, he packed up for India, intent on proving his father's innocence and forgetting the charming ways of Clara Lumley. Now, Stephen is back on English soil determined to do his duty as the new Lord Clifford, which includes funding a girl's school. He never expected to see Clara again, let alone as a teacher of the school for which he is the patron. In the style of Jane Austen, Julie Klassen, and Sarah E. Ladd, The Teacher at Orchard Hall begins a Christian Historical Romance series set in the Regency Era.

There he was. The man that had torn out Franny's heart five years prior. His jet black hair illuminated by the candlelight and his dark eyes looked intimidating as ever. He was handsome, there was no doubt. But Franny knew what lay underneath the pristine, marble like exterior. Observing him like this, Franny questioned how she ever loved him. Sure he was handsome, but he was always serious, he didn't dance at balls, he only snaked about the room to make contacts and network. She was at a loss, really. The contrast between them left her wondering how she ever could have wanted him so desperately. ***** There she was. The woman that had rejected him just five years ago. Her red head set even more aflame under the chandelier and her pale blue eyes looked as alight as ever. She was a frazzled, messy thing. Sure, she was beautiful, but it was a wild kind of beauty that while once enticing, seemed now too dangerous. Observing her like this, with her head thrown back in a deep laugh, he could see why he once thought he loved her. She represented what he was never allowed to be. She offered a sort of freedom that he was too scared to take for himself. However, as one grows up, they must account for responsibility, and if loving Franny was anything, it was the opposite of responsible. ***** Francine, or Franny, Preston had been in love once in her 20years to a man she has yet to forget, though she had tried on numerous occasions. If only the man in question still loved her. Harrison, or Harry, Richmond is in love with a woman he can't seem to shake, regardless of how hard he has tried. If only the woman in question didn't despise him. After the melding of domineering parents and a series of miscommunications, Francine and Harry were left with a broken secret engagement and broken hearts. If only the two would realize that the other still feels the same. ***very much inspired by Persuasion in terms of plot, not characters. Aha ***
