writers notes is more or less what it sounds like and is specifically for "the powers", as it explains context better. Basically a appendix.

The Powers Paris had been drowning in endless rain... until one mysterious day changed everything. Rise, Violet, Alden, and Volt are four ordinary teenagers whose lives collide after an ancient crystal hidden beneath a peaceful garden shatters, awakening unbelievable elemental powers-Earth, Water, Fire, and Lightning. At first, their new abilities seem impossible to understand. But strange voices, mysterious crystals, and a terrifying presence lurking beneath the earth reveal a much darker truth. Someone has been waiting for centuries... As ancient secrets begin to unfold, the four must learn to trust each other, master their powers, and face an enemy whose awakening could change the fate of the world forever. Some powers are a gift. Some are a curse. And every choice has a price.

The ancient old tongue was the very first language devised in Raveq. These were made at random from the races, consisting of seemingly random words and sounds almost every race could pronounce. Eventually the elves abandoned it and made there own tongue, as did all the men who made there own as-well (English). only the dwarfs still use the language. It shares similar language rules as English, but its main rule is to get the point/idea across.
