Rory Demarco is a witch of Italian heritage just discovering her powers. Her mother never wanted her to grow into her powers because her dad was lost to dark magic. Rory doesn't think she has any chance of following in his footsteps. She thinks she has everything figured out. Being a witch living in Mystic Falls, you pick up on a few things; you notice the supernatural. There's nothing Rory is scared of more than vampires without their humanity. The idea of flipping a switch and shutting off your emotions terrrifies her. She believes its exactly like losing your soul and that's the kind of darkness she's trying to avoid because of her father's blood and magic running through her veins. So she swears to use her magic to protect the humans of her town, not the supernatural. She wants nothing to do with vampires or anything like them. Then she finds out her childhood aquaintance, Tyler Lockwood is supernatural, but not a vampire. He's a werewolf. Rory wants to stay away from him and keep her promise to only protect humans, but she keeps going back to the Lockwood boy. She wants to believe that not all supernatural are prone to darkness. Maybe Tyler is just what she needs to loosen up and not thinks so much about souls and dark magic. And maybe Rory is what Tyler needs to get through his transformations. The witch and the werewolf seem like an unlikely pair, but are more compatiable than people may think.
