Книга Евгения Хромова "Моя Борьба" получила своё слегка провокационное название совершенно не случайно, несмотря на то, что она не имеет никакого отношения к одноимённому произведению, вышедшему в середине 20х. В новелле рассказывается о борьбе маленького человека с системой, а прежде всего о борьбе с самим собой - частью этой системы. Сюжет новеллы происходит в недалёком будущем. В государстве, сочетающим в себе свободу потребления и строгую информационную цензуру; вольные нравы и порядок; прославление революционных подвигов и преследование за свободомыслие в настоящем. Главный герой - Норманн Ньюман. Среднестатистический человек, ничем не отличающийся от миллионов своих сограждан. Он питается такой же пищей, смотрит те же телепередачи, также, как и все, усердно работает на государство. Но в один из дней Норманн просыпается на кровати в одной из психиатрических больниц, среди пациентов, которых содержат как диссидентов в тюрьмах.
