A riveting coming of age story about an orphaned dracon shifter's struggle to control her own fate.

"Black as a moonless night, might makes right," Joel whispered the old saying under his breath. His fingers clenched around my wrist before he released me and stepped away, his aura flashing with yellows and spring greens - excited and amused. Mostly excited. Definitely not afraid.

"Precisely," I said.

Out of the corner of my eye, I watched Grandfather's deep purple aura turn orange. Feigned disappointment. In his opinion, aura reading was a potential weakness and one he never hesitated to exploit. He only broadcast his emotions when he wanted someone to read them.

I rolled my eyes. "Stop acting so disappointed, Grandfather. This is what you wanted, isn't it? Why else would he-" I nodded to Joel "-be here? Our world is beneath his notice unless you invited him."

"Lured," Joel supplied helpfully.

So I wasn't the only one Grandfather tricked. "Tell me, Grandfather. Did you want Director Nease dead?"

"It is time for you to find a suitable lady to marry, don't you think?", my mother comments. Our feast has nearley started and I have already had enough. "Not something I occupy myself thinking about.", I comment, not sure if the told lie was for her, or for me. "Stark girl is looking for a husband. Talissa, if I remember correctly. I think she would be a good fit for you.", she persists and I chuckle, "A good fir for me yet you barely know her name." She opens her mouth to speak but I decide to put a stop to this annoying conversation, "A wife is something I do not need nor desire at this moment. If my dearest sister becomes queen my martial status will be the last thing to keep you up at night." My mother looks at me, "That won't happen, I assure you." Helaena touches mothers hand, taking her attention away from me. I tab my middle finger on the wooden table a few times, lifting my eye to find the person that has been, to my discomfort, taking a fraction of my mind lately. She's talking to Damon, a smile painted across her face as she rests her chin on her hand, carefully listening to him talking. It took some time before her eyes swiftly shifted from his face to mine and the realization of me looking made her drop her arm and straighten up in her seat. My attention made her visibly nervous. Few moments later she stood up and, without thinking, my body did the same. I start walking, making sure I don't loose her in the crowd. I am playing a dangerous game but it is something I simply can not seem to resist. ***** When Damon Targen finds an old broken amulet at his deceased grandmothers house, he asks his friend and co-worker Emma for help in finding more about it, but what they discover will lead them down the complicated path of his family tree and history, eventually getting them trapped in a world they know little about ...a world where war is about to break out and every small move you make decides if you will live or die.

Journey to true love. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Excerpts: Not knowing what more to say, I give in to the question I've been meaning to ask for hours, with misty eyes, sniffing my snort, I whisper, "Why would you kill him?" "Who?" he pouts, feigning innocence "Jayden! My friend." I hiss Smirking, smugly he shrugs it off, "Don't know." Yanking him closer to me, I spat, "Think harder then." Trying to play it cool, I could make out vulnerability in his eyes , "I was jealous" "Huh?" I stuttered Next moment Jay's pulling me in his embrace, planting wet kisses all over my face, he seductively coos, "You wish to know why I was jealous of another man holding you?" His touch sending warm tingles all over me, not trusting my voice, I merely nod. Reaching down to my left ear, his warm breath fans over my ears , sending bolts of pleasure, he menacingly purrs, "Because even if that was for a few minutes, Jayden was holding my entire exsistence in his hands." .......... ......... .......... ......... .......... ......... .......... ......... Lilac walks over to Ceaser, looks straight into his ocean blue eyes, "The love you'll have for her is to be so deep, that it would be the envy of the ocean itself." Attrius didn't like what he heard, "Undo it, work your magic. Make the bond between our Imprintee and us extinguish. You're her protector after all, protect her." .......... ......... .......... ......... .......... ......... .......... ......... Attrius's was the last to leave the room, his parting words, to his Etherati, "Even if the sun doesn't shine where you are, even if the moon doesn't reach where you are, even if the wind doesn't blow where you are, we will find you. We will always find you." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Highest Rankings; #01- Eternal #01- Triplets #05- Beast #15- Protective #20- Dragon

Yet again Darkness is hungry for a war to end it all, but Light will always have troops at the ready. One girl. One kingdom. Eleven friends. Four Elements. No biggie. * I'm Melody, hybrid freak, nice to meet you, strange muggle who I know nothing about. I used to be like you, cluelessly ignorant and uninvolved with the outside world. You know, they have a big, yellow ball of gas in the sky. Weird. Anyway my life became something out of a bad Si-Fi movie, and no, Nicolas Cage isn't in it (sadly). There are two forces in the world, Light and Darkness, and when you side with Light, Darkness gets a stick up its ass and wants you to suffer. My friends and I, we roll with Light, you must know where that leads.... I have a kingdom to learn, powers to master, loud friends to keep in line, a boy that I'm messed up over, and above it all, Darkness to show whose boss. Not as easy as you might think, but this is MY story, and I know how it ends. Being a loyal follower of Light shows me the beauty in life and the devastation it can cause. Don't get me wrong, I love Light, but Darkness makes it hard to stay and fight. * Melody is weird. She's childish. She's awkward. And she's got boy issues she needs to work out. Mel will face evil like no other, but can she do it? Will the scales of Light and Darkness finally be tipped? How can one girl make a difference? This is Melody, a corky teenager, and she wants you to read her story. Like now. Enjoy! Highest rank- #69 in Fantasy (Still cant believe it!!)
