Born as the older sister of Yuki and the first daughter of the Kuran family, Akila was raised with a tortured mind. Taken as a child from the Kuran residency, she was trained as a hit-man but was tortured in unspeakable ways. So her mind did the only thing it could do, it created a new personality.

By doing this it unlocked her pureblooded powers and she was able to escape and be found by Kaname who immediately took her to Kaien Cross where she met Zero Kiryu and Yuki Kuran or now refered to as Yuki Cross. She hid her purebloodedness from everyone and made it seem as if she were human.
