Maybe cause it was, almost the end... Or did they come back to repeat the end. 

The leader and his paladin are taken from their team and ripped from their lion into a cell. Shiro does everything in his power to keep his team mate out of the galra's clutches by fails when Lance is ripped from the cell they're forced to share. He never saw Lance after that. 

But there's other plans in stored for Lance by the temporary emperor himself.

Lance always gets the short end of a stick in the team. He works the hardest, always pushing his limits and trying to succeed every day. The only issue is that no one sees what Lance does and only pays attention to his failures. Since he wasn't able to attach the spy bug Pidge created, the team had the "bright idea" of discussing the replacement of Lance without him. Lance found out and was done with being a paladin of Voltron, but then Lotor came into the picture. Will Lotor Value lance? Will Lance leave Voltron? Will Voltron fall apart? Allura and The White Lion have fused, and the Paladins leave Oriande behind. Everyone has admitted to themselves that Shiro has changed a lot. Pidge believes she knows what's up...but she must bear several life-threatening injuries to prove it. Nothing to big for a Paladin of Voltron, right? Sadly Haggar knows what the youngest is after...and she must prevent it from happening. In any way she can. Oh, there's one more thing...Keith has a family which is alive. NOT a Klance book. Any reactions between the two is completely platonic. I do not ship them in the least.

The Paladins of Voltron are missing, only Coran Shiro, and Princess Allura got out of that battle. The black lion was the only one to make it back to the castle. Then lions Green, Blue, Red, and Yellow where all taken with their Paladins. The green Paladin hasn't been heard from longest, Katie was separated due to her scientific mind and technological mind/ insight. The only thing know about her, is that she is never in the same prison too long. Keith was put in a cell only drones can access, due to his Galra roots. Lance is on the same ship as Keith, but in a standard cell, he is just trying to figure out a way to get him and Keith free. Hunk already escaped, and got his lion, he has been making a b-line for the Balmera and Shay. He was in the lowest security cell, so broke out pretty easily. The Galaxy has been searching for their heroes, the Paladins of Voltron, and they get closer every day. The Garrison have been trying to get in contact with the Paladins for years now, unaware that those who they need to rescue them, are the ones in need of rescuing. Different situation to the end of season six and of season seven. I know this isn't what happens, but this is a Fanfic, not the actual thing. Go to Netflix if you can't handle this, but seriously. I own nothing but storyline and plot, everything else goes to Netflix.
