How was I able to do all of that? ------ This book is part 1 of my rewrite series. I figured that if If I wanted to rewrite TLJ and TROS the only correct way would be by also doing TFA so here is that. Also, this book is going to be very similar to the movie to a point where it is almost identical but since it's written with different points of views we get to know more about the characters and where they come from. It is very canon compliant especially when talking about the different character backstories. That being said, this doesn't mean that the next two books are going to be the exact same as the movies I want to take the other books in a completely different way. This is my version of the third chapter of the new Star Wars trilogy. I will not change anything that happened in either Force Awakens or Last Jedi. I will uphold the restrictions that resulted from the sad death of Carrie Fisher and will only draw from the deleted scenes or audio from pre-existing Star Wars movies and properties. Whilst I appreciated what Last Jedi was trying to do, I did not actually like it. However, I have no intention of undoing any of the main plot points or revelations that were in it. E.g. Rey will certainly not be a Palpatine. The story will not contain any Reylo. I know, I know: I love it too, but it was really weird seeing it as canon in the Rise of Skywalker. Do not expect it here. Because of The Force Awakens, we know of the marriage between Han and Leia, which struggled, and eventually broke because of their son's rebellion. And we also know of how their son killed his father. But we know very little about Ben Solo's early life, before he was trained under Luke Skywalker, before he found the green crystal for his first lightsaber. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... The Resistance tried to attack the First Order but it failed. Many are dead, many are prisoners and only a few escaped. Kylo Ren was interrogating all of the prisoners and killing them if they were useless. He killed men, women and children. It didn't matter to him. I was taken prisoner. I was with the Resistance, hiding the fact that I could use the Force, hiding my past. And then, it got uncovered, by Kylo Ren, when he interrogated me. And somehow, I survived. But whether my survival was a good thing or a bad thing was yet to be known... Takes place about a year after The Force Awakens (this is an AU).
