It was 2025. The start of the "meteorite plague". It all began when meteorites hit our planet and destroyed many cities. Millions of lives were lost. The aftermath of the first wave left a blanket of smoke, covering the atmosphere for weeks.

Meteors continued to threaten us after the first wave. Nations began falling to anarchy because of mass panic. In response to this danger, the world's leading nations built a weapon around the planet's orbit. They decimated any meteors before they get anywhere near the Earth.

We lived in relative peace for a while until chaos struck again. It's different this time. Millions of people vanished everyday without a sign. We lived in fear. But we're too late when we discovered that the virus from these meteorites was responsible for this; about ninety percent of the world was already gone. But no trace of the dead was found.

But we survived in the midst of the crisis. We worked together, uncovering the mysteries behind the meteors and the bodies of the dead little by little. We worked hard, preparing for the worse, Because we know this is far from over.

The paranoid ones were waiting for the first signs of a fallout and when it began they hid in their underground 'storage containers'. These were completely sealed once someone closed the door. The doors were automated and within 2 to 5 years depending on the setting chosen the doors would automatically open. The history of the 'lucky ones' is that they knew someone who had a container and welcomed them, or they hid in the container until the family that owned it got in and sealed the door. And hope they would not be killed for trespassing. Now it is 2243. The world has drastically changed. In this world the 'Owners' and 'Potentials' rule the 'communities'. Guards police, keeping communities separated. The Powers rule over what was once called North America now simply called East Nation North (ENN). Superiors handle their community they are assigned to. Under the Powers, Superiors, Water Protectors, Guards, owners and potentials come the animal breeders next on the hierarchy. Then the last three levels don't really matter to anyone. Those are the baby breeders, slaves and throwaways. They have no say in anything.

-Complete- A zombie apocalypse with a twist of Native American Lore. It all began from a sequence of events so absurd, complicated and uncommon as to be unbelievable but an ancient Hopi Pueblo Prophecy predicted a time when the dead would roam the earth. They called them the Sleepwalkers. Monsters created during an unsurvivable cycle called the Sleeping Sickness, which would last for the length of time it took for only those born during that fateful era to grow up. There was no promise ANYONE could survive such an event. Nor was there ever any oral account as to how it might happen. Only a promise their Great Spirit would give them a sign. 𓅣 Enter Investigative Journalist and War Correspondent, Nathan O'Connor Sr. While covering a story for the WHO in Ethiopia he stumbles upon a dark plot originating in secret medical bio-labs that had the power to wipe out humanity, and runs concurrent with a Hopi prophecy predicting this event. Gathering as much information as possible, he took his findings to WHO HQ in Switzerland. He just never imagined his hard work would never see the light of day. Until it was too late. 𓅣 🎖️Rated #1 in Prepper! *week of 02/20/24 🆆🅰🆁🅽🅸🅽🅶🆂 ⚠️Rated [M] for Mature Audiences ☣️Sci-fi Zombie Apocalypse. 🚨Adult situations occur throughout the story with themes such as: marital strife, arguments and anxiety; with references to extreme delusion, self-medicating, drinking, smoking, revenge, narcissism trauma and teen pregnancy with descriptions of birth. ☠️Descriptions of mass death, murder, suicide, sexual encounters and zombie attacks. 🔫The characters in this novel carry guns for protection and use them. 100 years ago, amidst WW3's nuclear bombing, a deadly virus was released in the atmosphere and nearly wiping out the humanity. It lives inside the human brain thriving on the empathy receptors, leading to irrational behaviour and ultimately brain death. To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. To minimize the threats, the Colonies have sent their best soldiers to oversee the trial and protect its key subjects. If only things were going according to plan, or better...stay hidden. With Iron Guard, the resistance outside the walls, hunting the Purebloods too, will the trial save human race before it's too late? #3 in #dystopianfuture (27.06.2020)

This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent? Is this fleeting shadow something that can help her or could this mysterious figure be even more dangerous than the zombies themselves? ---------------------- Ranked #1 Apr 10, 2018 (A huge thank you to all who read and voted!) This story is copyright and built from my own imagination. This book was a special request from someone who helped me a lot. This viewpoint has less action than the original. The cover was made by @All_AboutAssymetry. A huge thanks to her! Copyright September 2016. All Rights Reserved. Readers may not copy, alter, or steal this story.
