After the war, Snape disappeared from everyone except himself. He hides himself even from his own truths. The truth is, it was never Lily he loved, but James. Hatred was not was he felt in his heart for the The Boy Who Lived, but rather bitterness. 

He had to come to terms that the young boy was the spitting image of whom he'd loved and lost. His only hope for some peace, is to set his godchild up with the Golden Boy. He wanted Draco to get what he never stood a chance to. More importantly, he didn't want Draco to realize his own feelings too late.
