Berega is the first and only born child of Raditz, he was sent away to a distant planet aged 5 so he wasn't made to conquer planets and fight by Vegeta and Nappa. After the death of Raditz, Berega's mother, Totama, went to Namek with Vegeta and helped Goku defeat Freiza. 

Aged 15, Berega had rebuilt his pod and was off to Earth to find his parents, but was he in for a shock when he arrived. (he arrives during the cell saga)
