One dead. One sedated. One awake. The risks were simple. If anything were to have gone wrong, the entire lab was to be decommissioned. The entire project terminated. All personal included, no loose ends. - - - - Wren is an engineer, contracted to keep the Elwood North Technical Science labs together. Placed in the middle of a storm belt, the lab was always somewhere between falling apart and barley functioning but only on the surface. In the sub levels below the hauling docks was equipment used for more than testing ice sheet integrity. When a sever storm hits the life support systems, Wren is tasked with getting them back online. A boring, routine job. One the engineer could have finished with her eyes closed, except Wren is intercepted by a women in a blood covered lab coat before she can get to auxiliary systems. While the station is losing power, Jane is preparing the lab for an arrival - a specimen that had come from another of the Elwood Facilities after it had gone dark. Except when it arrives the field team is sent to the containment labs and Jane discovers that something is deeply wrong; the other scientists had succeeded where she had failed. Their specimen was not just breathing, but awake and bleeding. While Jane tries to piece together why anyone would have attacked the specimen and risked the decommission of an an entire lab, Wren is starting to realize that something besides the storm is causing the system failures - and what she discover will uncover horrors she never intended on seeing.
