I can talk to ghosts. Not in the really weird ways, like with Ouija boards or conjuring spells. I can actually talk to them, and see them, like how I can talk to and see my friend Markus in the flesh who comes by once a day to see me in the mental institution my parents put me in. My friend Markus believed me when I first told him, treated it like it was a completely normal thing. My parents, not so much. It all started when my sister passed away when I was 10. She wasn't sick or anything, just a terrible accident that killed her on the way to the hospital. I've been here a rough 7 years and they only have one more before they have to let me go. I see them sometimes. They're gone most of the day. We wave when we see each other, coming or going. Those two seem nice. Didn't they used to have a son about my age? My neighbour's house is normal. They turn off their lights about the same time we do. Except in that one room. The lights in the white room stay on late each night. I tried to watch them, once, to see how late they stayed on. I fell asleep. When I woke up, they were already off. My neighbour's house is normal. Sometimes I hear sounds from the house. Almost like muffled screams. Everyone gets night terrors, it's common knowledge that, at night, everything can sound scary. My neighbour's house is normal. Except when it isn't.
