Holly, is sore from her last beating from her uncle and there is a new boy in school that smells like chocolate and the woods in spring. If her life wasn't messed up enough she has a talking dog in her head. Most people after suffering the years of abuse she has would have a kick ass split personality but no she has made one that doesn't come out. Just talks to her and for some reason when ever she gets to smell the new boy she rolls over and chants mate! Say What? she doesn't need a new friend. It seems clear what he should do, but it's a tougher decision to actually make than say.
