In a future not so far from now there are a group of people known as Maji. These beings, both human and not, have been given magic-like powers. But those powers come with a price. Hunted and ostracized for their abilities, the Maji live in secret throughout the Known Universe.

Seventeen-year-old TJ is a smuggler and hacker - a damn good one, too. After fleeing Earth's collapsing eco-system, she has found a new family in the crew of The Phoenix. Their way of life isn't easy but it's never boring. When a job goes wrong, TJ and her friends uncover a conspiracy within the Galactic Police Force. A new drug is on the market - Cosmic Dust - and the GPF are funding it. But that's not all.

The drug is created by the exploitation of the Maji.

When TJ's past comes back to haunt her, can the crew forgive her of her secrets, long enough for them to pull CD off the market? Or will one final secret pull them a part for good?
