Izuku Midoriya, as a 4-year-old kid, was saved from his bullies by a new girl in town, Kuina Shimotsuki. The two immediately hit it off and became friends, leading to Kuina inviting Izuku to join their dojo. This allowed Izuku to pick up the broken fragments of his shattered dream of being a hero, and made him want to try to become the number one hero, this time, with Kuina as his competition. At least... that was the plan.
