Nia James is a 32-year old senatorial speechwriter who is living with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Her illness isolates her from the world, making it almost impossible for her to develop close relationships with other people. After she embarrasses herself at her brother's engagement party, he encourages her to download a new dating app called PoliDate. She sets up an account with the intention of deleting it once she regains her self-esteem, but her plans are thrown out of whack when she matches with her ex-boyfriend, a news anchor who dumped her last New Year's Eve on live television.
