And When the Empire Began to Fall

9 parts Ongoing

Star Jones has lived in peace for all fifteen years of her life. She has five annoying older brothers, an eccentric father, loving friends, and a decent school career, and even though their southern country, Callila, seems particularly interested in taking over the entire continent, she's sure that it will never affect her. Besides, they couldn't start a war, right? Well, Star finds out that Callila can and will start a war, and her country is first on the list of destruction because of its strategic position to other bigger, more influential countries. When her country is invaded, she is barely saved by a newly manifesting ability--her uncannily abnormal strength. This alerts Calila to her, and it is discovered that she is the long-lost daughter of a murdered court official. As Calila tries to make Star something she's not, she's brought into a plot to destroy the royal family from the inside out with the help of the enigmatic prince, who is older than her and really cool. Star wants to be friends with him and will do practically anything to appease him, even if it means changing herself and giving her all to the rebellion--something that could very well kill her. *Basically, a YA novel with teenagers being teenagers, more gay, more diversity, a lot more swearing, and darker humor. Something I'm writing for fun. Give it a shot if you so wish.
