'A young girl has just been living her life normally; until she turned thirteen--the age where you can find your soulmate.  That was when this young girl and their parents--found out that her eyes not only changed colour, but she also had a tattoo/soulmark.'

'For years humans have been born with the ability to find their soulmates by eye colour.  The first emotion you feel when you turn thirteen is the emotion that causes your eyes to change to your soulmate's.'

'Monsters have been able to find their soulmates by a tattoo of something that represents their soulmate.  Humans, however, do not have tattoos unless they are a monster's soulmate.
If this is the case, the 'soulmark' as it is referred to as, will only represent the monster soulmate and will be the single soulmark used to find the other half.
A monster can find their soulmate by either of them touching the other's soulmark without having any bandage or piece of cloth in between them.

Although rare, it is not uncommon for a monster to have a human for a soulmate--so what if Sans did?'

WARNING!:  This was a basic summary, I will be adding in a bit more information!
Although this IS an 'X-Reader' fanfic, (and my first at writing one) I will be giving the reader heterochromia eyes.  You will be able to choose what the colour of her right eye is--but for the sake of this story, her left eye will be green.

In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away. For 2 years Violet also paniced but she knew that some people don't find their sm for 5-10 years after they come of age, so she wasn't as scared as Harper. Until you find your soulmate the world is in black and white until you meet your soulmate. When you turn 18 a tattoo of your soulmate's first word to you appears on your arm. If you're older than your soulmate you stay 18 until he/she/they catch up. When Harry wakes up on his 13th birthday he notices two things. 1. The room is in color. 2. The face staring back at him in the mirror isn't his own. Purely fictional.

This is a soulmate au :) Starlo x Gn!Sick!Reader The smoking is in that one scene in chapter six near the end. Starlo doesn't actually smoke XP I MADE THE COVER :D This is the black&white ver, so if you want the full color 1, i'll get to work, just ask! My soulmate AU is a bit different than others tho (I think). It branches off of the hanaki disease, but without the one-sided love. If a monster and a human are paired together, the human gains the drawbacks of the bond, getting said disease. Bonds such as this are rare, but apparently not TOO rare for your case. The only way to rid yourself of the disease is to mix the flowers with your bonded's blood (monsters don't bleed, but as a substitute, they can infuse a small amount of HP into the mixture to have the same affect). This antidote is unknown, as is the sickness, due to it being mostly off the records for decades. There are some small studies on it though, but most humans don't find their monster soulmate. Lucky for you, the fates are cheering you on.
