Nolan, an unapproachable guy who ignores the existence of all his schoolmates, sleeps in all of his classes. Normally, this wouldn't be Chelsea Arnold's problem-she does her best to pay attention in class and attends gym like a good, normal student.

Unfortunately, she just so happens to be his assigned desk partner in many classes. She's frequently forced to wake him in English class and ends up earning the unofficial title of Nolan's Wake-up Alarm-a title that nobody in the entire school covets. The last thing she wants is to interact with him more than she absolutely has to. One day, their gym teacher sends her to bring him back to class, which he always skips for some reason. When she accidentally shines her flashlight in his sleeping face, it triggers a chain of events that gradually intertwines their lives together.

It's hard to be a normal student when you start befriending the school oddball. It doesn't help that he has more secrets than the Big Ben has stairs.

Since their Senior Year at Crystal High is coming to end, they have challenges to face. While the common challenges stresses them- such as college applications and hopes of getting chosen by their dream college- they come face another problem which brings them closer to work together and help each other out. As the bond between them grows and they come to unravel a part of each other, they end up finding comfort. But the past continues to haunt memories and they find themselves stuck with their thoughts. Well, that's Logan anyway, who's so close to expulsion that even getting a bad score on a class quiz could get him thrown out. They both attend a private school in the small town which consists of rules stricter than a prison, and a bunch of stuck up pupils with IQ's higher than Albert Einstein's. When Megan ends up falling to sleep in class because of the previous late night she had watching 'Keeping up with the Kardashians' until 1am with her Mum, she gets dropped in an after school detention faster than you can say "oops". But who knew that sitting through a detention, and later in an isolated room with Logan could quite possibly make the school she despises actually worth going to. And who knew that in the 5 years of going to the school, the only person she actually becomes close with (and I mean really close) is the guy shooting paper spitballs at the teacher.
