Everywhere I looked, there were mutilated bodies. All of my friends were gone. Annabeth was gone.

The monsters had outnumbered us, Gaea's fall only making them angrier. One by one, demigod bodies would fall until I was the last one left. Just me.

The monsters had cheered before retreating, looking back to snicker at my fatigued body.
