But unlike Phil, Dan doesn't handle it very well, and finds himself spiraling downhill, with what seems like no way back to the top.

Phil goes to a new school after bullying becomes too much at his other. But the negativity that has placed itself in his life suddenly starts slowly drifting away when he immediately meets a new friend, Dan Howell, almost immediately. Their friendship quickly escalates, and leaves Phil thinking that maybe his life isn't so cursed after all.

Dan is depressed. His parents take notice in his mood and sends him to America hoping he could get help from another family.
