During the year of their eighteenth birthday, the women of Grayson must undergo The Awakening- a ceremony in which they are chosen by their mates. In a patriarchy where men rule everything and women are seen as nothing more than instruments for childbearing, Mia has no say in who her husband will be. When the man who chooses her turns out to be cruel and abusive, there is nothing she can do to leave the violent relationship. As is the law in Grayson, she is bound to her husband until death.

Feeling trapped and alone in her marriage, Mia finds comfort in her house servant, Ruby. As they grow close, a forbidden love blossoms. Mia wants to flee her marriage and be with Ruby, but fear holds her back. If the government found out about her prohibited relationship, she and Ruby would be sentenced to death. She wants to find happiness, but not at such a high cost.

Mia embarks on a journey of romance, betrayal, and rebellion as she tries to find her voice in a place where women were meant to be silent.

"Though I'd spent my entire life denying it, I could no longer live a lie. I didn't love my husband. I could never love him. After repressing it for so long, I finally accepted that I was gay. I had always been gay. And no number of threats or scare tactics from the government would change the fact that I would always be gay."

"Horribly fascinating!"

"Wow, this is so chilling. I can't wait to read more!"

"There are ways in which the real world has treated women and homosexuals that mirrors what is happening here. I find it disgusting, intolerable - and that means stories like this need to exist."

"This does a great job showing some seriously underrepresented issues in the world :)"

#9 in UTOPIA 3/3/19 I couldn't take my eyes off of Dean as he stared at the glimmering stars in the night sky. "I believe the story of our lives is already written in the stars. Our destiny is already given to us. The end of our lives will always end the same, no matter what we try to do to change it." I watched a strand of his blond hair fall over his ear. "What does that mean?" "It means that if you are the person who is destined to take the two parts of this country and bring them together, then it will happen one way or another." His heterochromia eyes found mine and I found myself entranced by them. "And Mel, by the looks of things right now, I'd say your story has started and you are already working towards your destiny." ** One country. Two nations. After the country split in two, the nations renamed themselves the Ameliorates and the Extricates. The Ameliorates live in a community full of stability and order. Melody Sharpe is the daughter of the Ameliorates' leaders. All her life she was told that the Extricates lived in a place full of chaos and destruction. What happens when she finds herself questioning everything she had once been taught? What does she do when she meets Dean Martin--the son of the Extricate leaders--who tells her that everything she knows is a lie? Why did the Extricates really split away from the Ameliorates? Why do the Extricates fear the Ameliorates more than anything else? Are the Extricates really the "bad" side? Melody starts asking questions--something she isn't supposed to do--and it might just lead her into the middle of a war.

For what reason does one wake up every day? People had always thought the life of ISAAC RUIZ couldn't be more perfect. Everything he wanted, he would get with his money and influence. What anyone didn't know was his real motivation to keep on living -- something that was silly for others, but a salvation for him. For office employee FLORENCE VILLENA, there was no longer any meaning to his existence. Nothing could fill the void he had been experiencing inside him anymore, and he was convinced the world was better off without him in it. At twenty-eight years old, LAURENCE VILLEGAS had a lot of reasons to wish to just sleep forever. Since losing his home and family, the universe had rarely been kind to him. And yet, he chose to survive, time and again, if only for the hope of seeing his life get a little better. On Friday the thirteenth of January 2023, fates began to entangle as Laurence died, Florence killed himself, and Isaac lost his reason to live. Nine months after the incidents, a new dawn fell upon those three lives when a dead man's soul reawakened in someone else's body. Set in a fictional Asian City called Perlientas. Mature topics: deaths, including self-killing (actual scene not depicted), mental health and other social issues, character thoughts that some may find disturbing or triggering. Despite those topics, the overall story's pretty lighthearted. Featured on: @Romance [Romantic Suspense] | September 2024 𝑷𝒂𝒅𝒂𝒖𝒌 𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒊 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 - 𝑩𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑷𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒐𝒓𝒚

A dystopian young adult novel involving romance, secret experiments on human subjects, and a group of teenagers' will to survive. Reader Comments: "I'm gonna gush about your book real quick...all the technology has a purpose and is beautifully explained so I can picture it in my mind...the whole concept of the book is completely original...*moment of silence for your beautiful arch of character development* everything your characters do is strictly them but they develop enough to show more about themselves without you straight up telling the reader about them" -Vairl9023 "Ahh!!! This is so good!! I will be anxiously awaiting the next Chapter!!" -CrystalBagot "Brilliant...ohh, this is very catchy, good work" -IndeeMaynard "I love this so far" -BrianneMorris "You've done a great job at creating a mysterious mood" -poisonedpen *** All Evita Creedy, 17, wants is to finish her degree and be accepted for a prestigious job with the city's Department of Energy. [Book 2 of the Mia Series] Seven years have passed since the girls graduated high school together. This story begins as Cambria does her best to balance different aspects of her life the moment she decided to pursue her dream, while Mia is the ever-supporting partner and now works two jobs to support their career choices, bills, and current home life. How well will these two handle the stress that occurs with being an adult? Will they find time for each other even with busy schedules? Are they going to be able to further their careers, get married, or have kids? Can Cambria and Mia's love for one another rise above whatever may come their way? _____________________________________________ This story is a sequel, but I have written it in a way that allows for it to stand alone. Nevertheless, I still recommend that you read 'Mia' first before reading 'Bri' to understand this book better. Either way, the decision is entirely up to you. Please note that none of the photos I've used for the characters in chapter one are mine; they belong to their rightful owners. I only used them as a means to show you how I feel they should look like. But, of course, you are free to imagine the characters as you see fit. All that matters, in the end, is to enjoy the story! =) ⚠️ Warning: ⚠️ This story contains strong language, possible trigger moments, lesbian material, and mature sexual content. Be aware that homophobic comments will not be tolerated. Read at your own risk.

Olivia never really paid any attention to the guys in school and she's never let herself fall in love. Ever. With college just months away, she had no interest in beginning a new relationship. Besides, she just wanted to enjoy her senior year with minimal distractions. Then her adoptive parents decide to foster an arrogant, irritating guy, who frustrated her to no end. But then tension, oh sweet tension, grows between them whenever the other is near. How is Olivia supposed to fight the inevitable if they live alone in the same house? How is she supposed to not become attached or fall for his cool, flirty, and sometimes reckless personality? Especially when they both forget about the rules. Tyler didn't expect anyone to want to foster him, but SGA was getting old anyway. With his father out of his life, it was time to finally live it without risking getting arrested for doing anything else illegal. Olivia wasn't supposed to become part of his world. How could she? With his past following him like his shadow... ~~~~ Listen to it on Audible: https://www.audible.com/pd/B0B14NK2V4/?source_code=AUDFPWS0223189MWT-BK-ACX0-308441&ref=acx_bty_BK_ACX0_308441_rh_us Paperback on Amazon: http://hyperurl.co/r93gn4 Wattpad's version is a draft.
